Job Description:
We are seeking a positive, hardworking, and experienced Medical Assistant to join our team and provide excellent customer service to our patients! Sugar Lakes Family Practice is a comprehensive medical group, caring for patients of all ages. We focus on preventive medicine and health maintenance by providing wellness exams, routine and sports physicals, and patient education. We help our patients share in the responsibility of exercising good health practices for themselves and their families. We provide medical care for most conditions including, but not limited to, heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, and thyroid disease. We also perform biopsy and cryotherapy for skin lesions, repair lacerations and treat many orthopedic conditions.
Medical Assistant Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Greet and prepare patients for examination or procedure with physician/provider. Obtain vital signs, room patient, record medical history, medications, and other patient information as directed by physician/provider, assist the physician/provider with physical exam or procedure, and scan appropriate medical documents.
- Administer immunizations/injections as directed by physician (intra-dermal, subcutaneous, intra-muscular), perform test ordered by physician (ekg, spirometry, lab draw, urinalysis, strep test, mono test, urine pregnancy test, H-Pylori, vision, ear lavage, pku, and influenza test)
- Provide patient education, imaging orders, referral information, and discharge instructions for medications and/or treatment, as applicable.
- Accurately and in a timely manner document patient information, maintain patient files, records, and other information.
- Obtain authorizations for medications, diagnostic testing, procedures, referrals to specialists, and/or schedule testing and appointments, as directed by the provider.
- Notify patients of test results, ordered prescriptions, and/or follow-up appointments.
- Maintain exam rooms (supplies, cleanliness, and waste disposal), work station, and sterilize medical instruments/equipment
- Exhibits flexibility in handling unusual situations, initiative, and performs additional duties as assigned with a positive attitude. May be required to flex/change schedule and work overtime at the discretion of the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
High school graduate or GED
Successful completion of a formal training program in medical assisting
One (1) years of work experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinic setting
One (1) years of work experience with documentation in an electronic medical record
Preferred Qualifications:
Maintenance of American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) certification and/or a National Certified Medical Assistant certification
Five (5) years of work experience as a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant in a family practice or pediatric clinic setting
Two (2) years of work experience with documentation in eClinicalWorks
Two (2) years of work experience in a NCQA/PCMH recognized organization
Knowledge of meaningful use quality measures
Bilingual
