A TYPICAL DAY IN A GRANGER SHOP:
- Effectively use the RTA software system to access work orders, track time, enter appropriate line items for parts and additional work as needed and document detailed notes regarding repairs and all items identified
- Always follow required safety practices, including lockout tagout, wheel chocks, under and above equipment safety procedures and wearing required personal protective equipment, when working on equipment
- Complete service calls, taking repair truck to breakdown location for needed repair and/or clean-up
- Determine vehicle condition by conducting thorough inspections and diagnostic tests; investigate if diagnostic code is the real problem or just the starting point for further troubleshooting, identify and replace any worn and damaged parts and take appropriate actions for a thorough and long-lasting repair
- Schedule and complete all required preventive maintenance programs with a goal of thoroughly evaluating the current status of the piece of equipment and identifying opportunities for overall equipment health and maintenance
- Perform electronic transmission diagnostics, service, repairs, replacements and overhauls
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, lights and hydraulic lines as needed
- Examine safety devices on equipment and adjust, repair or replace as needed, reporting all non-functioning systems to supervisor immediately
- Perform all annual inspections and necessary reporting
- Fabricate and weld as needed to complete repairs
Qualifications include the following
- Prior diesel experience, including engine inspection and repair, transmission preventive maintenance, electrical, air brakes, steering and suspension inspection
- Prior experience working with after treatment systems and ability to diagnose and troubleshoot system failures
- CDL‑B with air brakes preferred (or ability to obtain)
