We are looking for a talented and ambitious Engineer II to design, support and carry out tasks related to the development of a next-generation, electro mechanical devices which are still in its design infancy. Under the general direction of senior engineering personnel, you will be specifically responsible for the design and automation of electro-mechanical fluidic breadboard assemblies to support feasibility studies.
Mechanical Engineering Degree(s) (preferably not BioMedical Engineering), concentration in controls would be fantastic but not required.
Experience with, and keen interest in mechanical design (1-2 yrs industry experience with BS, or academic experience with MS).
"System controls", "PID logic", "controls theory, "control logic", "control loop" etc. as an interest, and with some experience preferred
Interest in a position with 70% ME design, and 30% electromechanical system control development & optimization.
What You Will Be Doing
Additional responsibility is to support the testing and analysis of subsystem breadboard performance related to fluid-handling and robotic mechanical component system controls. These breadboard feasibility studies will lead to full-scale product design and development by this candidate within a fast-paced product development atmosphere. Automation of electro-mechanical systems will be achieved via programming of simple microcontroller based prototypes. Mechanical component prototypes will be created via 3D CAD design for fabrication with traditional machining and 3D printing as well as through hands-on prototyping.
Moderate latitude for self-direction, this team member will translate breadboard design and analyses from feasibility into concepts with manufacturing and production intent.
Base salary and DOE, $80K-$90K
What You Need for this Position
Microfluidics, Control Systems, Dynamics/vibrations and CAD Design with at least 2 years experience.
- Performs engineering assignments under the general direction of senior project leaders.
- Upholds group and industry standards in the design and drafting of mechanical subcomponents.
- Designs and develops moderately complex components and sub-assemblies
- Analyses system functionality and prepares engineering specifications in order to fulfill design requirements.
- Analyses sources of design variation including mechanical tolerance stack-up calculations.
Problem Solving, Detail Oriented, Time Management, Teamwork, Experience with the following:

- System Controls & Dynamics
- CAD systems (Creo a plus)
- Statistical Analysis a plus
B.S. in Engineering and a minimum of 2 years experience related to the areas given above or suitable equivalent combination of education and experience.
At Least 2+ Years of experience and knowledge of:
- Mechanical Design
- Medical Device
- 3D CAD (Creo preferred)
- machining and 3D printing
- translation of breadboard design
- Feasibility Studies
- programming Python and or C++ (is a plus)
