Immigrants First, PLLC is an established, mid-sized immigration firm with an excellent reputation located in Manassas, VA, but is region-wide in its breadth of service. The firm has a very high success rate of winning cases and is very involved in state and national policy and training on immigration law issues, including for judges, lawyers, community leaders and foreign nationals. We are a collaborative and friendly firm with excellent training both formal and informal for all members of staff. The majority of our clients are Hispanic, however, we have a good representation of African and some Asian clients.
About the Position:
We are seeking a full-time, immigration lawyer with strong emphasis on removal defense. The lawyer must have a minimum of 1.5 years immigration experience especially in removal defense, and some affirmative cases such as U&T visas, VAWA and waivers, case load. The candidate is expected to have a solid understanding of the basics of asylum law and have represented clients in individual hearings. Must be excellent advocate for clients both in writing and in court. The attorney hired will have many opportunities for professional growth, receiving feedback, participating in paid CLEs, and networking. The position is both salary and incentive-based, with benefits. We are looking for someone who is motivated and dedicated to immigration law, and who is passionate about helping clients and assisting their their fellow colleagues with casework. It is a hybrid position with up to two days working from home.
Our team has a robust administrative support staff to support attorney duties such as: extensive client interaction, declarations, conducting country and case-law research, brief writing and representing clients before USCIS, EOIR, the Circuit Courts of Appeal, DOL and DOS.
Specific Requirements Include:
- An active bar license (preferably in Virginia) and clean criminal record
- Prep for cases and experience in litigating removal defense cases – focus on asylum and crim-imm experience is a plus
- 1.5 years experience in immigration law at a minimum - the more experience the higher the pay
- Being a team player
- Excellent knowledge of and passion for immigration law
- Knowledge of employment-based immigration law a plus
- Excellent research, writing and oral advocacy skills
- Attention to detail, strong work ethic and accountability
* Spanish is preferred, but not required

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
