POSITION SUMMARY: LEAD OUTREACH LAB REP
The Lead Outreach Lab Representative is responsible for assisting the Phlebotomy/Outreach supervisor in the day to day operation of the outreach laboratory and is available to assist employees on an as needed basis. The individual is responsible for performing all job responsibilities of the laboratory representatives and proficiency in the billing functions and review and resolution of the charge rejects and rebilling of outreach charges. The individual is responsible for assisting with enforcement of and training staff on policies and procedures and workflows, supply inventory, staffing assignments, training and development, assessing employee competency, providing input for performance reviews. The individual helps ensure compliance with BRRH policies, CLIA, CAP, AHCA, TJC and other regulatory agencies.
POSITION EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strong working knowledge of software systems in use: patient registration, billing and laboratory information systems.
Be able to read, analyze and interpret policies, procedures, billing and insurance related communications and accreditation standards.
Have an understanding of registration and billing requirements for NON patient and client billing types.
Advanced analytical and problem solving skills. Basic mathematical skills
Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Windows and Office Suite applications.
Perform all procedures within the section assigned accurately and efficiently.
i. Verify medical necessity from providers
ii. ensure that appropriate insurance information is obtained and entered for non-patient registration.
iii. Order tests accurately and completely per physician request.
iv. Knowledgeable in laboratory billing functions
Evaluate the technical competency of others.
Review work of others, identify errors and take corrective action on errors.
Ensure completion of all registrations, accessioning, labeling and specimen handling and distribution and all associated documentation by staff.
Perform and coordinate the performance of special projects on schedule.
Staffing and staff assignments
Outreach client and physician office staff interaction
Acquiring, maintaining and effective utilization of supplies and materials
Training staff in emergency and disaster codes and drills and other safety policies.
Maintenance of complete and current procedure manuals
Daily and weekly review admissions, registrations and problem accounts, rejected billing, and outreach rebilling.
Daily and weekly review of temperature monitoring, decontamination of work areas.
Identifying and implementing workflows to improve efficiency and throughput.
Coordinating improvement efforts for all quality and performance improvement initiatives
Compliance with all local, state and federal regulations

Minimum Education and/ or Experience:
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
One to three years' experience in patient access, hospital / laboratory registration and/or laboratory accessioning
Licensure / Regulation / Certification:
If driving is applicable, the following items will be requested: driver's license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance.
Incumbent may be required to perform emergency duty before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency, crisis situation or disaster (man-made or natural) including evacuation sites.
The person in this position will work in a smoke-free location, and is expected to adhere to all smoking restrictions.
