Position Overview

This position be part of the Corporate Governance section of the Legal Organization at Southern California Edison, and will be responsible for performing advanced administrative and secretarial duties to attorneys representing the Company in a variety of litigation, transactional and regulatory practice areas.

Typical Responsibilities

Create and maintain a safety conscious work environment.
Support three to five attorneys (Attorney, Senior Attorney, Section Director or Assistant/Associate General Counsel) by performing a wide variety of complex, legal administrative tasks. Deal daily with highly confidential information that has department and/or corporate impact.
Maintain calendars including scheduling meetings, travel and speaking engagements; sort, route and prioritize mail; maintain highly confidential files; order office supplies and prepare expense reports.
Utilizing SAP, run monthly accounting reports and process invoices.
Act as main backup for executive assistant to Vice President and Corporate Secretary.
Track Board or Committee meeting minutes to completion (draft, track for approval, and execution) and maintain tracking log.
Maintain the internal department portal and Corporate Governance document library for use by executives.
Assist in the preparation of Board of Directors meetings, including maintaining necessary supplies and equipment.
Work under pressure in a team environment; exercise discretion and judgement handling highly confidential and/or non-public information.
Other duties include heavy typing, daily interaction with executives and other internal and external professionals.
Perform other responsibilities, duties and projects as assigned by manager and/or attorney(s). Easily adapt to quickly changing priorities.
Overtime required around Board meetings.

Minimum Requirements

Must type a minimum of 50-words per minute.
Three years of legal secretarial experience or five years’ experience supporting a legal function or Office of the Corporate Secretary.
Desired Qualifications

A combination of formal education, training, and experience to gain knowledge, skills, and abilities generally equivalent to those possessed by a high school graduate.
Typically possess five years of experience performing advanced administrative and legal secretarial functions for a private law firm, corporate legal department or Office of the Corporate Secretary.
Demonstrated experience handling confidential information.
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills, including editing for proper sentence structure, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Demonstrated experience in project scheduling, tracking and prioritizing with strong organization skills and attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment, interact effectively, respectfully and collaboratively with clients, peers, management, and other work units both on the phone and in person.
Proficient knowledge of personal computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, OneDrive, Adobe Pro, Skype for Business or other related technology systems, on-line applications and office equipment.
Experience working with federal/state agencies, regulatory commission, or corporate governance department.
Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
Must demonstrate effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence, negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
Legal Secretary Certificate or Paralegal Certificate and/or post-high school education preferred.

The primary work location for this position is (work location); however, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at (alternate work location).
