Baxter Services in the US & Canada currently generates over $100M in annual revenue, with double-digit growth expectations
Applies engineering principles, problem-solving methodologies and a collaborative attitude to develop, implement, sustain, and improve medical device products and the associated Technical Service strategies, processes and offerings
Manages/coaches a team of technical staff to effectively represent Technical Services on new product development, design transfer and sustaining engineering core teams across multiple product lines and business units
Applies system/solution-level thinking to projects to ensure that service offerings, processes, and procedures are optimized across a full customer solution (hardware device, accessories, and digital tools)
Manages, identifies, hires, develops, and recognizes technical staff; the team includes 4 – 8 senior / principal engineers and technologists). Provides technical direction and coaching to direct and matrixed reports.
Collaborates closely with cross-functional team members to prioritize/manage both projects and sustaining work.
Manages a variety of complex projects in area of responsibility. Example projects include supporting product launch for new product development systems, identification and execution of significant value improvement projects, and support of Digital transformation and Digital improvement projects.
Analyzes product/system and operational data to identify opportunities for improvement and creates robust business cases to pursue them.
Approves/submits proposals to senior management for consideration/allocation of funds. Prepares project cost estimates up to multimillion-dollar range. Monitors project expenditures/ cost tracking.
Responsible for policy setting/defining procedures for staff. Provides input on overall engineering department policy.
As needed, integrate third-party manufactured medical device products into Baxter’s service operations in accordance with Baxter distribution and/or development partnerships.
Proven track record of management / leadership effectiveness.
Comfortable/confident coaching, developing and mentoring technical talent.
Well versed in core engineering disciplines (e.g. mechanical, electrical, software, systems engineering), design control methodologies, and configuration management principles.
working independently, collaborating with multiple stakeholder and effectively managing multiple priorities.
directing/managing across multiple cross-functional teams and regions
communicating clearly, tactfully and effectively to all levels in the organization, including senior management.
Firm understanding of GMP and quality system requirements
Must have the ability to travel, both domestic and international
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a core engineering discipline (e.g. mechanical, electrical, software, systems, or mfg./process engineering);
8+ years’ experience handling multiple projects/leading cross-functional project teams.
Medical device experience strongly preferred.
Experience with digital products and IT/connectivity expertise strongly preferred.
