Edgewater is currently seeking a highly motivated Enterprise Architect to provide support to the Department of Energy WIPP Contract located in Carlsbad, New Mexico. This position will involve performing duties pertaining to Business Analysis, Enterprise Architecture Support, Program Management Application Administration, and will involve traveling to site locations to perform work as necessary.
The Enterprise Architect is instrumental in setting direction for the integration of computers, software, systems, system of systems, networks, personal computing devices, and a wide range of ancillary and peripheral devices. They are also responsible for developing, maintaining, communicating, and administering the overarching framework of enterprise architecture capabilities, models, initiatives, capabilities, and components to properly and efficiently execute the organization's business and technology activities.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Working with the customer, helps align the various components of the information technology (IT) architecture (i.e. business architecture, data architecture, application architecture, and technical architecture) with the enterprise strategic goals and objectives.
Develops a set of overarching architectural principles that help guide and inform the evolution of systems, processes, infrastructure and IT operations.
Working with the different IRM technology teams and groups, defines, designs, and deploys a set of governance processes, templates, methods, and artifacts as part of a disciplined yet adaptable architecture framework.
Creates and maintains a catalog of IT assets including computer hardware, storage devices, appliances, networking hardware, system software, applications, utilities, database software, and other IT assets and components.
Identifies the ontological framework that is, the classes, attributes, and relationships of the different entities.
Maintains this as a data structure and application (either commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) or bespoke) that provide query and analysis capability, including end of support (EOS) and end of life (EOL) analysis and planning.
Provides guidance and expertise for the integration of both COTS and bespoke software within existing systems.
Provides guidance and expertise in establishing an enterprise data architecture strategy that recognizes WIPP data as an enterprise asset.
Provides guidance and expertise for incorporating cyber-security into all aspects of IT operations, from design through deployment and end of life.
Stays abreast of the latest trends and technologies, focusing on any software, services or hardware that might improve business processes and increase operational efficiency.
Coordinates and / or assists in analyzing and resolving complex technical problems.
Coordinates and / or develops architectural assets and models using visual diagramming tools, modeling tools, or other software for system architecture and design.
Coordinates and supports enterprise architecture initiatives including fact finding and requirement gathering interviews, data entry, document development, editing and Visio modeling and drawing development.
Acts as the senior technical resource / chief engineer for the IRM team.
Excellent technical abilities across a broad range of disciplines.
Bachelor's degree in information technology (Masters preferred).
At least 10 years of IT experience with 3 or more years of relevant experience in enterprise architecture.
Deep knowledge and understanding of different architecture reference models (e.g. DODAF, TOGAF, SOA, etc.).
Deep knowledge and understanding of data reference architectures.
Skilled in the use of Unified Modeling Language (UML) and Model Driven System Design (MDSD).
Deep knowledge and understanding of multi-level software testing, quality control, and quality assurance.
Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Server.
Experience in presenting to C-Suite level executives.
Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
Must be eligible to obtain and retain an HSPD12 Credential via background check.
