Are you an experienced scientific editor with an interest in science and technology developments in the greater China region? If so, we may have the perfect job for you.

We are looking for an experienced life science editor to join the Cell editorial team, with an equal responsibility and time spent on projects focused on the greater China region. On the Cell editorial team, you will be assessing submitted research papers, making editorial recommendations, and overseeing the peer review process; commissioning, and shaping review- and commentary-type content; traveling to scientific conferences, and developing strong ties with the relevant research community. As the Editorial Advisor for the Greater China region, you will be a key player in shaping the strategy and direction of our rapidly expanding team in China. You will be overseeing existing China-focused projects, forming strong relationship with key opinion leaders, and developing new collaboration with relevant organizations. To facilitate these activities, you are expected to spend up to six months per year in our Beijing office.

Successful candidates will work closely with the Editor-in-Chief of Cell and the Publishing Director of Cell Press to manage the complementary roles.

Some of the key attributes that we are looking for in the ideal candidate are

(1) At least three years of editorial experience in a relevant scientific discipline covered by the journal
(2) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
(3) Broad scientific interest in science and publishing
(4) Critical thinking and the willingness to learn and absorb new areas of research
(5) The ability to successfully work independently and in diverse teams
(6) The ability to travel frequently to China, including being located in China for up to 6 months/year
(7) Fluency in writing and speaking Mandarin is not critical, but it is highly desirable

This is a full-time in-house editorial position. Cell Press offers an attractive salary and benefits package and a stimulating working environment.
