Ferring Pharmaceuticals Inc, in conjunction with Rebiotix, will design, build and execute the commercialization plan for microbiome therapeutics. The Sr. Director, Microbiome, will play a key role in the strategic planning and operational design of the plan. This role requires a close coordination and management of all aspects of the planning process, across both companies.
Reporting to the Ferring US CCO, this role has US marketing responsibility for the Microbiome commercial group, including product launches.
The role is responsible for developing and executing all aspects of the strategic plan for the US Microbiome commercial group and leading or coordinating with multiple group teams. The incumbent will also build strong and deep global and regional relationships and knowledge in order to pioneer a new paradigm through adoption of microbiome therapeutics for treating indicated conditions.
This position will oversee development and execution of go-to-market strategies and programs to achieve US sales objectives, including programs to drive sales force readiness and achieve revenue targets for the organization.
Key responsibilities will include: defining high-level strategy; driving product commercial planning, annual budget planning, and forecasting; identifying and allocating group resources; ensuring product launch execution; assessing market and competitive trends; cultivating KOL and key customer relationships; market research; identifying key growth drivers, tactical planning and execution and coordinating support activities with other teams including Sales, Medical Affairs, Regulatory and Market Access and achieving target forecasts.
Provides exceptional leadership to commercial team to:
Contribute and/or create the overall vision, strategy, positioning of products
Design and plan the staffing and commercial operating model
Identify and monitor key internal and external developments (e.g. clinical/regulatory milestones, market/competitive developments) impacting decisions and investment schedules
Achieve organizational objectives
Maintain exemplary customer support
Develop team talent.
Participates as key member of Commercial Leadership Team to develop and execute strategic vision across the entire portfolio within the Commercial Franchise while also being a champion for the Microbiome business.
Develop and execute marketing plans for the franchise, including:
Planning and executing launches
Leading development of training and product support material with the Sales Training groups
Forecasting product needs with the Operations team to ensure adequate launch inventory, as well as Life Cycle Management.
Providing product expertise to the US and global sales organizations, regional marketing teams, and country managers as needed
Collaborate with Global Marketing to develop the global commercial product strategy and product plan for the franchise.
Contributes to product development strategy through coordinating voice of customer activities with US KOLs and advisory boards to develop Product Strategy and Global Product Plans.
Manages commercial advisory boards and consulting arrangements with US physicians.
Assists senior management with the assessment of new and innovative technologies, business partnerships, acquisitions and any other related business ventures that fit within the microbiome business.
Forecasts and Manages budgeted expenses for the franchise. Responsible for developing and managing expenses for all upstream and downstream marketing expenses in line with approved marketing budgets.
In collaboration with Finance and the Business Unit, build a 5-year strategic business plan, as well as, annual budget
Track progress against the above plan, escalating as needed to correct course.
Bachelor’s degree with major in marketing or related business area is required. MBA is preferred.
10+ years of marketing and commercial leadership experience within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry required.
Experience launching first-in-class products required.
Experience with anti-infective, GI products, specialty pharmacy, and J-code drug knowledge is preferred.
Solid understanding of today’s US pharmaceutical environment, incl. Market Access, Distribution Clinical, Regulatory, Legal and Compliance required.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a franchise strategy. Experience managing product P&L.
Excellent communication and facilitation skills, and experience managing KOL forums.
Solid financial acumen and experience with P&L responsibility.
Ability to influence at all levels in and across an organization; excellent collaboration and negotiation skills.
Innovative approach with self-motivation and resiliency.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
Ability to travel, domestic and international, 30%
