This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on or before 6/30/2020. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Work hours are Monday – Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The position, under the lead work direction of the Passport Service Officer, supports in the coordination of the front desk of the Passport Office. As the Passport Office has expanded regular hours, the incumbent in this position is called upon to work independently, to be able to apply specialized knowledge to address a broad range of questions and problems, and play a strong role in office coordination to support the Passport Service Officer and the Passport Office. The position maintains a friendly and supportive culture at the front desk, including handling any challenging cases with patrons in the Passport Office. The position supports the coordination and administration of the passport and ID processes including taking photos, accepting applications, educating customers on associated Federal and State guidelines and processes, and managing and responding to daily e-mail and telephone inquiries.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $2,846 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $2,846 - $4,998 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
Experience working in a passport acceptance facility
Experience working with Department of State regulations and policies
Needs to be available to work evenings and some weekends
Clerical accounting or financial record-keeping experience
May be required to drop off mail at a U. S. Post Office
Experience working with the public and ability to defuse situations with difficult customers.
Excellent organizational skills, professional demeanor, and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
