As a member of the Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis team, you will have an integral role in making the impossible, possible. Your intensive physics-based simulations, in-depth analysis, and rigorous testing will enable your cross-functional partners to proceed on their designs with confidence. RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with internal and cross-functional design and engineering partners to deliver a thermally optimized product design
Plan and execute rigorous, physics-based thermal modeling, simulation, analysis and testing of complex electronics systems/sub-systems in order to pro-actively identify areas of concern and develop corresponding solutions
Consistently and rapidly deliver high-quality, data-driven engineering guidance to internal and cross-functional development partners
Drive failure analysis, root cause efforts, and design of experiments to resolve thermal issues
Advance team capabilities by actively exploring and vetting new thermal management technology and leveraging industry-leading tools and processes
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
BS in Mechanical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience
3+ years experience of system and/or sub-system thermal simulation, analysis, and solution development, from concept to production, for consumer electronics devices
Experience with the design, fabrication, testing, and evaluation of thermal prototypes
Knowledge in physics and engineering fundamentals
Experience with multi-physics simulations, specifically coupled thermo-structural simulations
Experience completing hand calculations, second-order simulations (lumped capacitance, MATLAB, etc.), and detailed finite-element modeling
Experience tackling challenging problems in adjacent engineering and science fields
Demonstrated knowledge with one or more of the following software tools: Icepak, Flotherm XT, Abaqus, Comsol, Star-CCM+
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
MS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
Experienced designing, sourcing and implementing high-performance, passive thermal management solutions
Knowledgeable of various fabrication and application methods for common thermal management solutions
Strong collaboration and communication experience
Experience pro-actively engaging cross-team and cross-geography
Experience with test plan development and implementation at FATP
Experience with Design of Experiments
Experience debugging thermal performance issues and failure analysis
Experience with thermal predictions in optical assemblies or thermo-optical simulation and analysis
Experience with Pennes Bio-Heat equation or thermal management for wearables
Experience with moisture/humidity simulation and analysis
Experience with fluid flow simulations and analysis
Experience with 3D CAD modeling in Unigraphics NX, SolidWorks, or ProEngineer
