The Role:
This position will lead and direct the modeling strategy and team responsible for the development and implementation of complex models as part of the Annuity/Retirement Plan Services Valuation & Modeling team. Responsibilities include modeling for Asset Liability Management, Asset Adequacy Testing, GAAP/Stat/Tax reporting, Economic Capital, and strategic planning. S/He will provide comprehensive actuarial analysis and strategic recommendations to senior leadership on innovative approaches for the development of modeling capabilities that are strategically important to the enterprise’s competitiveness.

Responsibilities:
Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Identifies and directs strategic process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Provides subject matter expertise to team members and internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.
Directs, establishes and implements priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure departmental results for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Directs and evaluates departmental performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Provides strategic leadership and direction to continually improve the capability and results for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Directs/executes approved strategy decisions and contributes to strategy creation for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Ensures that top talent is hired and retained for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Builds organizational capability within his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Leads the development of sophisticated modeling solutions that are strategically important to key stakeholders.
Partners with teams within the Annuity/RPS Valuation & Modeling to develop effective and efficient production systems that support the needs of the customers of the shared service.
Serves as a subject matter expert and partners with other functional units within the company, such as pricing team and Market Risk Management (MRM) team, to assess financial impacts and design methodologies to mitigate risks at enterprise level.
Serves as a subject matter expert and collaborates with external partners to understand industry trends and provide specialized expertise and guidance to senior management on modeling tactics.
Carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines. Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
Remains current in profession and industry trends.
Makes a positive contribution as demonstrated by: - Making suggestions for improvement - Learning new skills, procedures and processes
Performs other duties as required.

Education:
Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or other quantitative major (Minimum Required)
Upon Hire Certifications/Licensures:FSA designation or ASA designation with additional years actuarial experience

Experience:
12+ years of risk or financial/actuarial experience within the financial services and capital market industry that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position
3+ years managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience. (Required)
FSA designation
In-depth knowledge of Annuities, particularly Variable Annuities with living benefit guarantees, including product design, reserves, capital requirements, and hedging.
Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations.
Demonstrates ability to communicate knowledgeably and credibly with senior management and internal constituents.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Apply concepts such as probability, statistics, modeling, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
Works with mathematical concepts such as averages and/or variances.
Ability to apply advanced mathematical skills from such applied concepts and stochastic analysis, statistics, probably and advanced probability modeling for practical solutions.
Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to think critically, analyze information and to evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution.
Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Evaluate trends in data or information.
Proficiency with ALFA or similar projection software systems
Proficiency with Triton or similar valuation software systems
Familiarity with Access, SAS, or other data management packages
Familiarity with Tableau or similar data visualization tools
Familiarity with Dataiku or similar straight-through processing tools
Familiarity with Python, R, and /or SQL
