The Sr. Systems Engineer - Disaster Recovery (Disaster Recovery Engineer), is a part of BECU’s Business Continuity Team and will work closely with our Cloud < > Compute Program and teams across IT and the organization. This role will have the primary responsibility for the design, implementation and updating of legacy and new disaster recovery solutions utilizing modern techniques and technologies. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in designing, planning and leading disaster recovery tests in a multi-disciplined environment including public cloud, colocation and legacy business systems.
Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies and Information Protection requirements.
Guide the organization in the development and maintenance of technology related resilience/recovery plans and the development of exercises and other testing approaches to address multiple risks and vulnerabilities for the following core infrastructure technologies: Active Directory, DNS, SCCM, Cloud, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, VMware, Scripting, Local Traffic Manager, Global Traffic Manager, Citrix, E-mail, FTP, UNIX, Linux, Windows Servers, Security & Compliance Standards, etc.
Lead cross divisional enterprise disaster recovery projects.
Liaison and partner with Enterprise Architecture, maintaining the strategy and vision of our resilience/recovery technology systems.
Integrate and schematically depict systems architectures, topologies, hardware, software and signaling links into complete Systems configurations.
Research, develop and communicate system roadmaps, opportunities and constraints to IT as well as the business.
Partner with the security team to respond to prevent, detect and investigate suspicious activity in a timely manner.
Possess and display expert skills in the following areas: technical troubleshooting, vendor management, customer service, communication and project management.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline required, or equivalent work or educational experience. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum 6 years of technical engineering experience in designing and testing resilience/disaster recovery plans required.
Solid skills in Leadership, Project Management, Hardware/Software Design & Best Practice, Computer Security & Compliance and Enterprise Design required.
Experience in building, implementing and managing enterprise class backup and recovery environment with complex networks (e.g. Veeam, NetWorker, CommVault). Deep expertise in cloud computing technologies (i.e. Azure, Zerto) and experience in architecting BC/DR solutions in the cloud and colocation compute locations required.
Knowledge of networking concepts (advanced networking/switching/routing) preferred.
Proficient verbal and written skills required to effectively communicate in the English language.
Full time hours required, with additional hours as necessary and occasional travel.
Be available on an on-call basis to respond to pending issues or problems arising during non-business hours and provide support and response; including working off-hours to support disaster recovery test activities.
