About the position:

We are currently seeking a photographer to assist in the production and management of photography and video assets for our product reviews and recommendations.

The photographer will be responsible for coordinating with writers and editors in the production of photography in our studio. This role will include planning, styling, and shooting photos day-to-day, processing images, and delivering assets on quick turnarounds. A self-starter with strong aesthetic sensibility and technical knowledge is necessary, along with a passion for photography and journalism.

As a photographer, you will have the chance to put your creativity to daily use shooting professional quality images. You will be part of a fun and focused team that values the power of great visuals and the process of crafting them. As you put your photography skills to use, you will also collaborate with writers and editors to bring their reporting and recommendations to life.

Responsibilities:

  • Shoot and process photos in our studio daily
  • Set up and operate studio lighting, rigging, and modifiers
  • Prop and set styling
  • Track multiple pieces of editorial content and hit deadlines
  • Provide direction to non-photographer editorial staff
  • Coordinate with freelance photographers
  • Maintain archive of photography and address daily requests for photo assets from other departments
  • Assist in small-scale video productions
  • Manage and organize large library of assets and backups
  • Work with photo/video staff to maintain aesthetic standards and pursue creative solutions in a unique and fast-growing editorial environment

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years experience shooting and editing photography for an editorial organization
  • A portfolio of images demonstrating your aesthetic sensibility, technical skills, and professional experience
  • Experience taking direction from a photo editor or art director
  • Ability to quickly turnaround assets and adhere to deadlines
  • Knowledge of studio lighting setups
  • Experience in a digital team-based creative environment (Slack, Google Docs, Dropbox, etc)
  • Knowledge of visual trends and conventions
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, Premiere Pro)

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $1,550.00 to $1,600.00 /week
