Full Job Description
The Calibration Technician is a key factory staff member responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the calibration system in accordance with processes and programs that support the Quality department within Kimber Manufacturing. The Calibration Technician will work in concert with cross-functional teams and other departments to provide support in achieving quality goals defined and established by upper management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop a monthly calibration schedule
Calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment in accordance with procedures and work instructions
Coordinate, schedule, monitor, and verify calibration performed by outside vendors
Maintain primary and secondary calibration standards
Develop calibration procedures and methods according to detailed specifications and drawings
Collect, compile, measure, summarize, and record data gathered during calibration
Maintain calibration software
Maintain calibration records
Analyze measurement data for identifying abnormalities, trends, and/or predicting future values
Identify out of tolerance conditions and perform corrective action via adjustment, component replacement, etc.
Identify and correct measurement errors
Communicate out of tolerance conditions to the quality supervisor so that impact can be assessed
Prepare calibration reports and certificates
Recommend inspection, measurement, and test equipment for use in measurement applications
Purchase inspection, measuring, and test equipment as directed by quality management
Apply engineering knowledge to the design and development of calibration methods and fixtures in situations when IM&TE are not commercially available
Train personnel in the proper use and calibration of gauges and fixtures
Conduct audits of the calibration system to verify performance and traceability to standards
Experience determining offsets and ability to adjust accordingly
Accurately inspect firearms using visual, functional, and safety inspections
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (word and excel)
Accurately make independent decisions on product disposition
Trouble shoot various problems and develop corrective action to prevent reoccurrence
Adhere and monitor SOP
Understand/learn the nature and functionality of the products being inspected
Effectively communicate and notify supervisor when there are functional or cosmetic discrepancies
Must be able to accurately input all required data into the manufacturing database
Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Strong knowledge of ISO 9000 Quality Systems and GD&T
Demonstrable track record over a minimum of 3 years of successfully working in a high volume manufacturing environment using design, fabrication, inspection, and testing equipment
Ability to become knowledgeable of firearms; quality, features, safety, etc.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Cross functional team builder/player with high levels of professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm
Must be able to work accurately and efficiently in a fast work environment that has the potential to change due to regulatory and business needs
Need to be detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to multi-task
Experience working independently with little supervision
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing setting
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret quality performance reports and create solutions. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to perform complex and varied tasks
Ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks for an extended period of time
Required knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word using MS Windows platform. MS PowerPoint and Outlook.
This position may require travel occasionally.

This position requires compliance with ITAR requirement. Must be a “U.S. Person” (per ITAR 120.15) and are required to show proof substantiating this upon being hired.
