Floral Designer

The Floral Designer is responsible for artistically arranging flowers to make wedding bouquets, wreaths, corsages, and other decorations. He or she provides superior service by helping our customers and completing each order to satisfaction. The Floral Designer designs and merchandises floral arrangements and plant products, takes phone orders for floral arrangements, and provides valuable advice and suggestions regarding floral arrangements to our customers.

Our ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of professional experience, and an aptitude and creative flair for floral design. Formal training and/or certification highly desired. Candidates must have a pleasant and courteous personality and strong customer service skills.

Confers with clients to determine needs, which includes price and type of arrangement as well as the date, time, and place of delivery
Delivers arrangements to customers, when needed or oversees employees responsible for deliveries
Plans arrangements according to client requirements or selects appropriate standards design pattern
Waters plants and cuts, conditions, and cleans flowers and foliage for storage
Trims material and arranges bouquets, wreaths, terrariums, and other items
Wraps and prices completed arrangements
Unpacks stock as it comes into the shop
Creates and changes in-store and window displays and designs and looks to enhance shop's image
Informs customers about the care, maintenance, and handling of various flowers and foliage, indoor plants, and other items
Decorates or supervises the decoration of buildings, halls, churches, or other facilities for parties, weddings, and other occasions
Conducts classes or demonstrations, trains other workers, and provides educational information to the public
Performs office and retail service duties such as keeping sales records, serving customers, answering telephones, selling giftware items, and receiving payments
Performs general cleaning duties in the store to ensure the shop is clean and tidy
Willingness to learn in store POS system
Able to work some Saturdays and seasonal availability
Performs other duties as assigned

High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education preferred
Certification or education in floral design preferred
One year of relevant experience preferred
Strong artistic ability with an understanding of art, style, and use of color
Excellent customer service focus
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Must be able to multi-task and manage time to meet deadlines
Good computer and internet skills
