We seek an experienced Product Manager to join a highly collaborative and fast-moving team dedicated to building Pearson products that capitalize on market opportunities, meet customer needs and deliver learner outcomes. The role reports to the Director of Product Management, College Math & Statistics.

This is an exciting opportunity to build a new product for Development Mathematics, driven by customer needs, to market. The Product Manager is customer-led and will define our approach to this market and how we serve it. Furthermore, this role will ultimately own a portfolio of products for our existing math and statistics business.

Collaboration, partnership and active stakeholder management are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the creation of a new product and guide cross-functional development teams in a fast-paced and agile environment

Develop and communicate a deep understanding of the Developmental Math market and the impact of new technologies. Socialize a vision and roadmap for our future product set in this market

Understand and communicate to the team the needs of our customers, primarily Math and Statistics instructors and students in Higher Ed, using “Jobs To Be Done” and other frameworks

Collaborate with business, design and engineering teams to assess value, usability and feasibility of new product features

Manage a backlog and create a roadmap with the input of stakeholders from various internal groups, including Content, Experience Design, Production, Efficacy & Learning Research, Product Marketing and Product Platform

Own a portfolio of Foundations products and oversee their growth and define their roadmaps

Maximize both learner outcomes and commercial success for the products

Be accountable for the customer experience of the products

Support achievement of the financial targets for your product and understand the product P&L

Generate excitement and enthusiasm and act as an ambassador for Pearson products both internally and externally

Understand competitor products and key drivers of market share

Be a champion for agile product development methodologies

Be part of a culture that promotes partnership, teamwork and innovation


Key Requirements and Attributes

+ Considerable and diverse experience bringing usable software products to market

+ Extensive product management experience defining roadmaps, prioritizing and scoping work, collaborating with design and engineering peers, and driving business outcomes

+ Work and/or certifications experience with Scrum, SAFe and other agile product development methodologies

+ Deep understanding of UI/UX acquired through work experience

+ Familiarity with concept testing methods and a firm grasp of risk and reward as it pertains to new software product development

+ Ability to use market data, product analytics and other metrics to prioritize features and roadmap

+ High-level understanding of SaaS platform architecture, Web Development, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies

+ A quick learner who is interested in acquiring new domain expertise in the area of Developmental Math

+ Synthesize high volume of feedback from stakeholders, customers and partners to make data-driven roadmap investment decisions

+ An entrepreneurial and growth mindset

+ Requires a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (advanced degree preferred)

+ Must have 5 years of product management experience
