The American Century Investments Technology Group is looking for a dedicated Senior Application Developer with confirmed analysis and design skills to support our Equity Portfolio Management and Global Analytics teams. You will provide leadership and guidance in the design, development, implementation, configuration, integration, and support of the various technology tools used by Portfolio Management. This includes working closely with a diverse group of veteran portfolio teams and research analysts to understand their needs and then translating those into solutions.

The Senior Application Developer will understand the challenges of our business and be able to apply scalable technology solutions.
You will be a key player on an application development team that works closely with Fixed Income Portfolio Management and Research/Analyst teams to provide technology solutions.
Your responsibilities include, but not limited to, technical design, application development and architecture, systems integration, requirements gathering, request prioritization, resource planning, vendor management, documentation and validation testing of investment applications.
You will work with complex data sets to provide solutions with an emphasis on scalability and analytic robustness.
Closely follow application life cycle standards and procedures.
Building relationships with internal business partners and vendors.
You, as part of a team, will provide on call support and occasional overtime may be required.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
5+ years of IT experience developing and leading technology solutions
Experience application building using Spring Framework (Spring Integration, Spring Boot), Microservices, APIs (RESTful, JSON)
Solid understanding of Cloud technologies (AWS), containers, non-relational databases
Knowledge of the financial services industry, including financial securities, mutual funds, and ETFs.
Well-versed at working with sophisticated enterprise users to perform business analysis, extract requirements, implement solutions, and facilitate training and support.
Knowledge of formal application development methodologies
Proficiency in the clear expression of ideas both verbally and in writing with business and technical teams.
Knowledge of market data providers like Bloomberg, FactSet, Thompson Reuters.
Experience working in investment management, investment operations, or a financial systems background.
Knowledge of Fixed Income instruments like Taxable Bonds, Government Bonds, Municipal Bonds, Futures, Derivatives, and FX
Experience working with statistical computing languages (Python) is preferred.
Experience developing cloud native solutions is strongly preferred
You have experience with SQL and relational database platforms (DB2, Oracle, SQL Server).
Proficient in building applications using CI/CD pipeline
You have knowledge of project management & Agile methodologies, especially Scrum and Kanban
You have familiarity with business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Tableau.
You have an understanding of or experience implementing artificial intelligence, predictive modeling, and machine learning
Candidates must have effective team and interpersonal communication skills, work as an Agile team with minimal direction, and work to deadlines while remaining flexible to changes. Candidate must be willing to provide on-call support outside of business hours.
