The Coordinator is a one (1) year grant-funded position with the possibility of renewal. The Coordinator will work with the President and will report to the Board of Directors (BOD). Community Housing Action Partnership (CHAP) seeks a collaborative-minded individual to fulfill the organization’s vision improving housing opportunities in Monongalia County. The Coordinator will serve as the face of the agency to non-profits, for-profits, government agencies, and the media as well as provide leadership to the BOD.

Job Summary: In accordance with agency standards and policies, the Coordinator is responsible for the overall management and administration of CHAP. The Coordinator provides support to the CHAP Board of Directors in its policy-making and fiduciary functions. The Coordinator reports to the CHAP BOD.The Coordinator will work with the BOD to fulfill the organizational mission to improve housing opportunities in Monongalia County. The candidate will be able to communicate effectively with the BOD, providing information necessary to make decisions. The Coordinator will work with the BOD on furthering the strategic plan and implementing those strategies. The Coordinator will assist the BOD through the infancy stage of organizational development, broadening the organization’s impact, and solidifying its reputation.

Duties and Responsibilities: Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not to be limited to, the following:

  • The Coordinator will assist the BOD through organizational development, broadening the organization’s impact, draw in new partners, and solidify its reputation
  • Implementation of current and long-range organizational goals and objectives in conjunction with the BOD
  • Recommendation and subsequent administration of the BOD’s approved annual budget
  • Work with Board treasurer to provide fiscal and bookkeeping operations, record keeping and audit requirements
  • Assist the BOD with the development and implementation of a Board-approved fundraising plan
  • Marketing and public relations as relates to brochures, website development, public-speaking, press releases, etc. This also includes organizing and attending special events associated with CHAP
  • Assist the BOD with grant identification, application, reporting, and grant award compliance
  • Coordination of agency compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations
  • Represent and actively promote CHAP in a positive and professional manner, including representing CHAP to various stakeholders
  • Works with the BOD to develop the annual and regular meeting schedule and agenda as well as timely distribution of materials
  • Develop and participate in public speaking opportunities to increase community awareness of CHAP
  • Establish and maintain relationships with social service agencies, churches, civic organizations, and businesses throughout the community

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent, required; Higher education preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work effectively with an active BOD
  • Ability to be flexible with a dynamic work schedule that may include attending events in the community and beyond
  • Computer and software skills such as QuickBooks and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to volunteer organizations
  • Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of partners including government officials, bankers, funders, citizens, Board members, etc.

  • The ideal candidate will have a passion for social change, have knowledge of housing development process, and carry the ability to influence volunteers and collaborative partners
