Vista at Dimple Dell Canyon is a private 16-bed residential treatment center for adolescent females 13-18 years of age. At Vista we work with girls who have emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric disorders, including anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depression, and substance abuse problems. Vista is an evidenced-based treatment facility, and we pride ourself in our recreational therapy, and DBT focused program. We have an accredited private school on campus that allows students to continue their education while receiving exceptional care.

General Job Description

Our company is looking for individuals who are seeking a position working as a youth mentor. Responsibilities include participating in client care, mentoring, close supervision, documentation of behavior, implementation of treatment plans, providing crisis intervention as needed, developing positive relationships with clients and co-workers, and following facility policies and procedures. Our youth mentors promote development of clients’ daily living skills through appropriate assignment, instruction, and supervision of tasks. This position requires a food handler’s permit as you will be required to cook meals for the milieu on occasion. First aid and CPR certifications are also required. The employees hired will receive a two-day training on how to de-escalate sometimes intense and stressful situations. Note: The first aid, and CPR certifications will be facilitated by the company upon hire.

The shifts currently open are:

  • Part time weekend, Saturday and Sunday (730am-330pm)

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED preferred. Experience in a residential setting is preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid State Driver's License with appropriate Endorsements.
  • Food Handlers Permit acquired within 30 days of hire.
  • Pass a drug screen within 24 hours of hire.
  • Pass a criminal background check upon hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, drive company vehicles, and cook meals. The employee may occasionally be required to physically restrain clients, using authorized restraint procedures as a last resort for protection of client and staff.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment for this position is a 16-bed residential facility setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to clients who may ask inappropriate personal questions, display socially unacceptable personal behaviors, use profanity and sexually explicit phrases, make insulting remarks, and exhibit defiance, dishonesty, and self-destructive behaviors. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, and will be subject to frequent local travel as required by facility needs (as our company has an extensive recreational program).
