The Rehab Director is responsible for managing and supervising the rehabilitation department to meet resident needs, the company’s fiscal requirements and federal and state regulations. The Rehab Director will achieve specific patient care, employee relations, customer service, and financial objectives through strong leadership and effective management of staff, customers, and referral sources.
Assigns resident caseload and other responsibilities to staff.
Supervises, orients, trains, evaluates and counsels department employees to improve their job performance and to maintain high standards of care.
Assists with hiring and terminating department employees.
Establishes center specific policies and procedures for the department and assures employee compliance.
Ensures compliance with a medical records system that:
is accurate and concise;
meets governmental and third party payor requirements;
reflects a clear picture of the resident’s problems, the therapist’s intervention, and the resident outcomes.
Communicates and coordinates department functions with other services in a constructive manner that helps builds team rapport and effectiveness.
Communicates effectively with administration regarding department programs, goals, objectives, problems and successes.
Assures that the department complies with corporate and central policies and procedures.
Communicates effectively to the public and to medical personnel outside the center regarding the therapy services offered by Reliant Rehabilitation.
Participates in utilization review, quality assurance, resident care conferences, admission meetings, department head meetings, community education planning, and rehabilitation conferences.
Responsible for revenue and expense controls to meet budgetary requirements.
Establishes goals and objectives for the department and implements activities to accomplish them.
Ensure clinicians report required MDS information accurately and on time.
Some travel required.
Identify, achieve, and maintain quality of services.
Must hold a license as one of the following: Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapist, Certified Therapy Assistant, or Speech Language Pathologist.
Two (2) years of experience as a therapist.
Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly during a work day/shift.
Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand and give directions.
Ability to participate in sustained activities for many hours in duration in accordance with state labor laws.
