The HR Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with Senior HR Management. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: FMLA Administration, onboarding, employee engagement, employee relations support, HRIS reporting, performance management, policy implementation, time & attendance back-up and support, and employment law compliance.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Manages medical leaves of absences under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and state laws.
Provides guidance to supervisors and employees on compliance with company policies and applicable law, such as those pertaining to discipline, attendance and FMLA.
Reviews and drafts human resource related policies and procedures.
Represent Human Resources during new hire orientation on-boarding.
Conducts employee relations activities including: coaching, employee engagement support, progressive action documentation, termination documentation.
Review and process all employee changes and termination paperwork, and manage termination process.
Facilitate the resolution of all Payroll issues/concerns.
Assists with maintaining job descriptions in support of management by confirming existing duties.
Maintain Human Resource Information System, ensuring best practice and optimal utilization.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Conduct employee exit interviews and lead all off-boarding responsibilities, ensuring compliance with security protocol.
Participates in process improvements to include developing departmental goals, objectives and systems.
Prepare documentation for all Unemployment Appeal Claims and attend corresponding hearings.
Assist with processing the full life-cycle of leaves of absence including FMLA, Personal Leave and PTO, ensuring compliance with Federal and State Regulations.
Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
Act as backup to the HR Business Partner.
Works with HR Business partner to drive people initiatives.
Collaborate with and learn from all Human Resources teams (employee relations, compensation & benefits, recruiting, leadership development) in order to understand how to direct team members.
Pray with staff and lead devotions as needed.
Willingness and ability to counsel through Biblical worldview.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Essential Skills & Abilities
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows, and Outlook

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or closely related field.
3-5+ years in Human Resources with 1-2 years of previous experience managing FMLA and other leaves of absences required.
PHR or equivalent HR Certification within 1 year of hire required.
