The Machinist will work with closely with the Engineering build team to machine, fabricate and manufacture mechanical devices, including tools and Manufacturing Equipment. They will assist the lead machinist with machining operations when machining workloads are high and fabricate equipment when machining workloads are low
Position Responsibilities may include:
- Utilize Manual Lathe and Mill to complete simple operations such as drilling, milling, tapping, surfacing, turning, etc.
- Utilize various equipment such as horizontal band-saw, chop saw, table saw to cut various materials as needed.
- Machine/fabricate from a print or description.
- Observe equipment and machinery to verify efficient and safe operation.
- Set-up and operation of drill press and machine tools; designs tools, jigs, fixtures and templates.
- Operates power press to test completed dies and applies pigment to dies to indicate high spots which require reworking.
- Maintain safe work practices and good housekeeping.
- Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs.

Knowledge & Skills:

- Must be able to read and comprehend instructions in English as well as possess good oral communication skills
- Must be able to read blueprints for both machining and fabricating
- Must be able to read and use Micrometers, calipers, measuring tapes, and other various measuring tools.
- Must have strong math skills for measuring and calculations
- Must know how to operate both the lathe and mill press
- Must know how to weld and fabricate with various materials along with accurate measuring
- Ability to apply good judgement, strong work ethics and integrity on the job.
Competency:
Experience:
- 2 plus years in a manufacturing environment
- 5 years of manual machinist
- 3 plus year as a machine operator/fabricator
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Machinist certification preferred
- Welding certification a plus
Physical Requirements / Work Environment:
- Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Manufacturing environment with forklift traffic.
- PPE required: steel toed safety shoes, safety glasses with side shields, and gloves.
- Job requires standing (up to 90%), walking (up to 10%), stooping or bending, reaching, twisting and turning.
- Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 40 lbs.
- Hand Eye Coordination, handling tools and other objects (holding, grasping), repetitive wrist motion (flexion/rotation), and repetitive foot movements (Foot Pedals).
