Trane in the MD/PA district is hiring a Team Leader for our Controls Project Engineering group!! This role can be located in any of our district offices, including Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, Wilkes Barre, Allentown or Hunt Valley!!
As aControls Project Engineer Team Leader with Trane you will be responsible for designing controls projects and leading the district design team for the Maryland-Pennsylvania District. Specifically, you will be designing hardware and software for building automation systems. You will apply engineering principles and practices for work on assigned projects, and design cost effective control solutions to meet project requirements. You will work directly on the project team to assist the Project Manager with project commissioning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other functions may be assigned.
Directly supervises3-7 associates.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; manpower planning; assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, coaching and mentoring employees; and resolving problems.
Responsible for creating and/or modifying engineering design standards
Responsible for quality control of design submittals for the team and reviewing accuracy
Responsible for design activities utilizing direct digital controls, electronic and pneumatic comfort control and automation systems.
Responsible for the sequence of operations which meet the project requirements.
Applies advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
Validates the engineered bill of material costs.
Responsible for vendor purchase orders and orders Trane material under Project Manager's direction.
Generates Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
Responsible for reviewing contract documents and conducting job surveys.
Responsible for creating installation drawings, submittal drawings, as-built drawings and final validation of system operation.
Assists in the preparation of cost estimates for projects. Participates in pre-bid validation meetings for new projects.
Provides engineering direction and support to other team members.
Reviews equipment submittals for incorporation into design.
Negotiates and orders required Trane material and outside purchases.
Develops control programming and graphics for control systems.
Maintains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, and communication with staff, as needed, providing customer feedback.
Some travel within the district with occasional overnight stays. (20%)
Flexibility to work outside normal work hours/weekends, as required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field of study with a minimum of5-7 years of related Controls & HVAC experience; or Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with a certificate in HVAC, AAS, or BAS with a minimum of 5-6 years related Controls & HVAC experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have superior knowledge of HVAC systems and applications
Must have excellent communication and people management skills
Must have a proven track record of leading, developing and coaching employees
Must have experience designing building automation controls systems. Experience with Trane Tracer Summit or Tracer SC is strongly preferred.
Must have a proven track record of working effectively in a dynamic team environment and have excellent customer and communication skills
Must have experience with engineering drawing tools such asAutoCAD or Visio
Familiarity with the concepts of new construction and renovation/retrofit, performance contracting, and service project management.
Proficient computer skills are required (Microsoft Office)
Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to:
DUI in the previous 5 years
Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
