JOB TITLE: Senior Project Engineer

REPORTS TO: Project Manager

STATUS: Exempt

COMPANY OVERVIEW: Highmark Concrete Contractors (HCC) is looking for a highly motivated candidate to fill a key role in its Heavy Civil Structures Division. HCC self-performs structural concrete work in the heavy civil market on various public works and private development projects in the greater Seattle area.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Project Engineer assists and support the Project Manager and Superintendent on his/her assigned project(s). The position works under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, and has the ability supervise Project Engineers (when applicable), performs routine daily activities and gathers and distributes information. The Senior Project Engineer must be a flexible and adaptable team-player, as well as have strong communication and client relation skills.

KEY INTERFACES: Superintendent, Project Manager, Project Engineers

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicates and helps to enforce HCC’s Health & Safety Program
  • Demonstrates his/her own commitment to an injury-free workplace through own actions and mentoring of others
  • Supervision of on-site Project Engineers (when applicable)
  • Setup initial Contracts, Subcontracts, Purchase Orders, and Technical Service Agreements in Viewpoint
  • Receive, review, forward and track status of submittals
  • Initiate, prepare, review, track and distribute RFI’s
  • Daily quantity tracking, as well as timecard review and approval
  • Assist in preparing bid packages as part of procurement process
  • Develop and/or update the construction schedule for monthly Client submittals and three week look ahead purposes
  • Assisting in the Change Management process; including soliciting, receiving, reviewing, and preparing estimates to submit to Clients and issuing Change Orders to Subs & Suppliers as necessary
  • Track & inspect material deliveries
  • Compiles monthly financial performance reports including cost and revenue forecasts for assigned projects
  • Attends and/or leads project meetings as directed by the Project Manager
  • Assists and/or completes project close-out requirements

Essential Job Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS: Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint; Strong written and verbal communication skills; broad understanding of industry; good time management & organizational skills; ability to function effectively as part of a team; dependable; ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times; ability to understand and follow directions.

PREFERRED SKILLS: Experience and proficiency in Vista Viewpoint, HCSS Heavy Job, HCSS Heavy Bid, Plan Grid, Bluebeam and Microsoft Project.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: This position requires five or more years of relevant experience in the Heavy Civil construction industry. A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent.
