What is the opportunity?
The Credit Origination Analyst II is responsible for facilitating the loan origination process for securities based loans. This includes the review of new credit clients for on-boarding and underwriting and fulfilment of credit requests. Provide feedback and training to less experienced staff on credit origination, department procedures and policies.
What will you do?
Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, approving and underwriting securities based loan requests within company guidelines: Reviewing personal financial statements, credit reports, US tax returns and calculating applicable ratios (i.e. Debt ratios, loan-to-value, debt service, etc.). Analyze employment profile, credit strength, RBC Relationship and all other information pertinent to the credit decision. Maintain knowledge of RBC Lending Policy & Procedures. Examining transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Analyze portfolios to be pledged for new credits and assigns LTV’s as per firm’s policy
Analyze client documents and financial statements to evaluate, and determine appropriate credit structure and terms for potential borrowers
Reviews for due diligence, document processing, and financial statements analyses related to transactions and credit approval as applicable.
Prepares supporting information to be used for credit decision recommendations and approvals.
Able to mentor and coach business staff on underwriting guidelines and application of Policy.
Perform the initial client due diligence to ensure potential new clients meet all the current KYC (Know Your Client) and AML (Anti Money Laundering) requirements.
Ensure the integrity of the client information such as KYC and Source of Wealth is in line with RBC’s risk-appetite and documentation is correct and in good form.
May contact clients for additional information or documents as needed for the loan request to help maintain current and complete client files
What do you need to succeed?
4 year advanced degree from accredited university in Finance, Accounting, Business or equivalent and related experience
5+ years of credit underwriting experience
Experience in a fast paced high volume environment.
Strong Client Service Mindset
Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements for banking and credit including KYC and AML.
PC literate (Word/Excel/Outlook/Power Point) and proven ability to learn and adapt to in-house credit and other workflow systems
Credit experience working with security based loans. Proven excellence in client service including timely and effective problem resolution
Demonstrated collaboration skills, working in partnerships to create effective outcomes
Ability to meet all work deadlines
Well organized, detail oriented, and extremely accurate
Results Oriented by executing goals within timelines & acceptable risk levels
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
