Member Services Representative I
Job Description
Serve as a member contact to assist with questions, account transactions and service member financial needs. Ensures that positive relationships are built between members and Dow Chemical Employees' Credit Union.

Essential Duties
Communicates with members and performs tasks including but not limited to cash transactions, withdrawals, deposits, money orders, travelers checks and loan payments
Assists members with problem resolution for basic account issues
Conducts check negotiations and determines holds according to credit union policy and established authority
Balances cash drawer and manages cash flow daily
Scans and balances checks with Image Center
Ensures that cash dispensing machine and cash counters are operating correctly
Participates in the sales and service program ensuring that members' financial needs are met
Accomplishes the credit union's mission by completing relevant duties as needed as requested by management or other staff members
Skills
Essential Qualifications
Knowledge of credit union products, services, policies, regulations and procedures
Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
Intermediate mathematical and accounting skills
Excellent communication skills in order to work successfully with members and other staff members
Ability to express oneself clearly and articulately both orally and in writing
Ability to exercise tact and responsibility with handling confidential information
Ability to work with direct supervision of daily activities
Working Conditions
Must be able to function in a normal office environment with frequent interruptions by other employees and members
Must be able to sit frequently and use repetitive hand motions for typing
Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time and bend frequently
Must be able to distinguish color and establish validity of information and check transactions
Must be able to communicate through speaking and hearing, and use visual acuity for reporting and presenting information to other employees and credit union members
Must be able to lift and carry a light weight of up to 15 lbs frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally
Position is required to work flexible hours, including Saturday hours

Equipment Used
Office equipment, including: Personal computer, printer, calculator, multi-line phone system, copier, fax machine, and headsets

Check scanner, cash dispensing machine, currency counter, thermal printer, signature pad, and pneumatic tubes

Education Requirement
High school diploma or equivalency required

Years of Experience
Up to six months of experience with cash handling or customer service experience preferred

Certifications or Licensure Required
No certifications required
