· Compliance and Ethics Program Management, Leadership, and Oversight
o Identify potential areas of vulnerability and risk; develop and implement plans to monitor and audit identified risks; develop and implement corrective action plans, as necessary, to resolve detected non-compliance promptly.
o Establish an annual Compliance and Ethics Program Work Plan and actively manage the day-to-day operations of the Program and Work Plan to achieve established metrics and goals.
Serve as the practice’s Privacy Officer and ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations aimed at protecting the privacy and accessibility of the o practice’s patients’ personally identifying information and protected health information.
o Advise the owner and senior leaders on risks of non-compliance and provide guidance and recommendations on how to manage and/or respond to identified risks.
o Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure all members of the workforce are screened appropriately for exclusion from participation in federal and/or state health care programs and undergo other relevant background screening/credential verification.
o Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure members of the workforce are incentivized appropriately to promote the effectiveness of the practice’s Compliance and Ethics Program.
o Develop, implement, and maintain a practice-wide education and training program, including both initial introductory or orientation education and training for new members of the workforce, as well as ongoing education and training for all members of the workforce.
o Ensure the workforce understands the practice’s commitment to acting ethically and in compliance with applicable requirements and establishes a disclosure program and both encourages and facilitates user-friendly options for reporting concerns and/or issues.
o Independently investigate reports and detected instances of non-compliance and acts to remedy findings of non-compliance (i.e., implements and monitors corrective action plans).
o Ensure equitable enforcement of violations of organizational policies and procedures, government health care program requirements, and applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
o Monitor, and as necessary, coordinate activities across all practice locations to foster an effective Compliance and Ethics Program on an ongoing basis
Assist the owner with responding to governmental inquiries and investigations and reporting to governmental authorities
