We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join an existing team to help gather requirements for exciting revenue generating and mission critical functionality for an existing system. This business system includes call center, order processing, payment processing, invoicing and financial applications. This system runs our insurance business and is mission critical with high visibility. We are looking for a Business Systems Analyst to work with the business on this initiative as well as making sure the existing system functionality is analyzed for any changes. This role will also assist with making sure that developed functionality matches requested functionality from the business stakeholders. This role develops requirements that drive our development efforts.
Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues.
Lead design sessions in prototyping new system UIs using Balsamiq (or similar protoyping tools) for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow.
Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in operating systems across the organization.
Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, enhancements to existing applications and reporting.
Create system, data warehousing and reporting functional specifications.
Create documentation for what needs to be accomplished by the development and reporting resources to meet business needs. Maintain this documentation throughout the course of each individual project. Review this documentation with Quality Assurance resources to make sure that they have the information needed to properly test the application.
Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
Assist Quality Assurance as necessary to help make sure the end delivered functionality meets the requirements outlined by the project.
Coordinate releases with Quality Assurance.
Investigate and help guide the resolution of production issues.
5-7 years related work experience.
College or university degree in the field of business administration, computer science, accounting, or management information systems. Equivalent experience will be considered.
Proven experience participating as a Business Analyst in the analysis, design, development, and implementation of web-based software solutions, reporting systems, and/or products.
Proven experience working in environments that utilize SQL Server Management Studio (2008/2012)
Proven technical experience designing and supporting solutions built with .Net and SQL Server.
Understanding and experience in data warehousing and reporting.
Experience defining requirements for data cubes and self-service BI projects.
Experience writing T-SQL Queries to analyze data structures.
Extensive practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts.
Proven experience in the operation and analysis of database software, and standards, as well as data retrieval methodologies.
Experience in analyzing system-to-system interactions via both flat file batch processes and web services.
Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
Excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
