Reports to: VP of Finance
Interior Buildings Systems, part of the USA Millwork network, is one of the fastest growing millwork companies in the nation. We are seeking a Junior Controller in the greater Washington DC area. This position will partner with our construction professionals to manage the accounting/financial reporting and help drive successful bottom line performance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepares, reviews and distributes monthly financial reports of the company's business activity and financial position regarding income and expenses.
Provides weekly performance metrics and schedules to management.
Leads the company's month-end close process including reviewing accounting staff schedules and preparing schedules as required.
Leads percentage of completion-based revenue recognition process for the company.
Effectively communicates with Project Managers regarding contract documents, budgets, estimated costs at completion, change orders, approvals and billing.
Prepares and reviews cash deposits and vendor disbursements.
Reviews and reports cost accruals for committed costs.
Supports, develops and motivates the accounting staff.
Reviews operating expenses and provide recommendations to management on ideas for cost reductions.
Acts as primary point of contact for coordination of audit requests.
Participates in company budget development and reporting of actuals vs. budgets including variance commentary.
Identifies and leads accounting improvement projects.
Other duties as assigned.
This position will supervise a team of accountants and is responsible for assisting in performance management and hiring of employees within that department.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Preferred Education and Skills (in addition to the required):
Master's degree in Accounting or related field
CPA, CMA, or other professional designation
Professional services firm or corporate reporting experience
Experience in a quick growing, fast paced environment
Experience working in the construction industry
Required Education and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
7+ years accounting experience
Experience with percentage of completion revenue accounting
Ability to handle multiple changing and competing demands
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail
