Fisher Investments is looking for a Hadoop Administrator to execute Cloud Big Data initiatives. As a member of the IT group, you will support the implementation of Cloudera on Azure and ensure that the Cloudera platform adheres to optimal performance standards to meet the firm’s needs. In this role, you will also resolve any technical issues that arise and participate in ongoing Big Data projects.
This role can be a contract-to-hire or direct hire opportunity.
Manage Hadoop and Spark clusters on Azure
Monitor cluster health, performance and security
Big Data maintenance including:
adding or removing nodes, system backup, monitor performance, tune of Hadoop and Spark clusters, MapReduce jobs, Spark jobs, ETL jobs, etc.
Play a key role in capacity planning, Azure cost monitoring and optimization
Evaluate new releases of Cloudera platform, provide upgrade recommendations and impact analysis
Consult with project team to expand big data functionalities by implementing additional Hadoop and Spark ecosystem components to meet business needs
Collaborate with infrastructure, network, database, application and business analytics teams to install operation system, Hadoop and Spark updates, patches, version upgrades and ensure high availability of system and data quality
Partner with data delivery and security teams to setup new users, manage Kerberos security and access control
Develop training materials and provide training to internal IT and business users
Provide after-hour system and application support as needed and be a point of contact for vendor support and escalation
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in MIS, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline
3+ years of experience as a Hadoop Administrator
Cloudera or Hortonworks Hadoop Administrator Certification
Knowledge and understanding of operating systems across various IT environments (e.g. Linux servers, storage and networking)
Demonstrated experience in data modelling, design and implementation of adding new datasets into the cluster
Hadoop, Hive, HiveQL, Spark, Spark SQL
Azure services and security (e.g. SAML and roles and identities)
one or more languages (e.g. Java, Scala, Python or R)
Machine Learning or administering Linux servers is a plus
