Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, one of the world’s leading tire manufacturers, has an immediate job opening for a Sr. Power Distribution Engineer at the Wilson, NC Passenger Tire Plant.
This position will assist in the development, implementation and support of current and future power distribution systems throughout the facility. This individual will lead projects including planning, design, construction and maintenance of the Plant’s power distribution systems.
Strong project management and experience with high (69 kV) and medium (2300 to 4160 v) voltage distribution systems are required. This position is also responsible for supporting maintenance as needed. We are looking for a highly motivated and talented Engineer who will be involved in new process and innovations. PLC programming skills are also required. Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and power distribution equipment is desired.
Design and manage major projects such as new equipment installation, upgrades, etc. Projects range from $100K to $5M.
Analyze project requirements, identify and address design parameters, review engineering challenges and ensure solutions are timely and within budget.
Work closely with vendors, local utility company, consultants, corporate personnel, and manage external contractors on installations and maintenance.
Lead site electrical safety program; this includes maintaining site arc flash study, providing technical guidance on electrical safe work practices, and training personnel on electrical safety. Creating design specifications and complete all needed documentation. Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed.
Design and troubleshoot high/medium voltage electrical distribution systems, including experience with electrical distribution equipment such as 12.5kV switchgear, distribution transformers, protective relays, motor control centers, motors, adjustable speed drives, and industrial lighting.
Familiarity with PLC programming and energy monitoring software.
Develop and administer site electrical practices, procedures, and preventative maintenance and reliability programs.
Give technical guidance on electrical design and installation for maintenance and production equipment capital projects.
Project assignments may include planning, designing, materials procurement, project management and project accounting (budgeting, estimating, forecasting). Assist with engineering studies and investigations and in preparation of oral and written reports.
Electrical, software design for automation and safety systems. Maintain project scope/schedule and identify scope creep.
Create documentation such as training documents, program backup, network diagrams, electrical drawings, etc.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering & 2 + years related job experience.
Designing electrical control system knowledge for automated equipment.
Strong fundamental knowledge of industrial controls and electrical systems.
Understanding of relevant electrical requirements and machine safety standards.
Strong technically hands-on oriented engineer with clearly demonstrated experience and a track record of deploying modern power systems.
Experience with power quality management and 480/4160V equipment energy optimization.
Understanding of industry trends, direction and standards that guide new technology offerings, and uses technology and market intelligence to provide strategic recommendations on initiatives to achieve business objectives.
Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge.

Experience in writing/developing/programming PLCs and controls design
Experience with specifying, installing, start-up and operation of A/C inverter drives and D/C drives including Allen-Bradley (PLC 2 and 5, Control Logix), Mitsubishi, Siemens, and General Electric
Working knowledge of Ethernet IP communications, power distribution equipment including sizing transformers, electrical feeders, and distribution gear for equipment loads from 120 up to 13,800 volts.
