City of Tacoma's Information Technology Department, Project Management Office (PMO) is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated and accomplished Senior IT Project Manager to lead the project management team, and serve as project manager for innovative, multi-faceted projects.
Under the direction of the IT PMO Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of project management services. This includes overseeing a small team of project managers in the application of project management practices and processes for quality assurance. Supervisory duties include: assigning projects; reviewing and validating project control documents; monitoring progress, providing consultation and support to project managers and project stakeholders; preparing and monitoring employee development plans and goals; administering the PMO intern program; administering contracts to augment project management services; and managing contract project managers for contract adherence and quality of service.
The Senior IT Project Manager also serves as a project manager applying their experience and leadership to manage significant information technology projects to implement, upgrade, or replace software systems and infrastructure. Examples of the innovative and exciting potential projects in 2019 and 2020 include: SAP HANA Data Analytics, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, Office365 Implementation, Information and Records Management SharePoint Online Solution, Municipal Wi-Fi Expansion to Link Light Rail. As Senior IT Project Manager, you will establish and maintain close working relationships with technical management and staff within the department and across departments, as well as senior executives to ensure a collaborative environment and alignment with business objectives.

Information Technology QUALIFICATIONS (TRAINING AND EDUCATION):
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science, information technology, business management or public administration, or related field. Minimum of seven years progressively responsible experience in IT project management or program development with proven results.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Master's degree (or equivalent) in computer science, information technology, business management or public administration, or related field.
Public sector or utility experience strongly preferred.
Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:
Depending upon assignment certification may be required, such as:
ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) Certifications
Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification
PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)
Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP)
Certification in enterprise project management methodology such as Six-Sigma, ISO, or TQ
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Extensive knowledge of information systems development, including analysis, design, testing, implementation, maintenance, documentation and training procedures and practices. Knowledge of multiple technology platforms. Advanced knowledge of IT strategic planning principles and technology alignment practices. Advanced knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and work model analysis techniques.
