- Maintain division/office manager's calendar and schedule appointments.
- Prepare outgoing correspondence, reports, studies, etc.
- Make travel arrangements for the division/office managers and staff.
- Use office automation and web-based systems to provide administrative support and maintain record keeping responsibilities.
- Provide training to division/office staff on administrative practices.
You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements.

This position is designated as Low Risk and requires a background investigation. Unless an appropriate background investigation is already on record with the Office of Personnel Management, you must undergo a background investigation.

We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:
To qualify for the GS-08 level, you need to have at least one year of full time experience equivalent to the GS-07 level defined as maintaining supervisor’s calendar and scheduling meetings; making travel arrangements; providing administrative guidance to staff.
Your answers to the on-line assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Ability to work collaboratively with division/office administrative staff; 2) Skill in written communication; 3) Ability to make travel arrangements 4) Ability to use and advise on web-based systems; 5) Ability to advise others on administrative procedures and practices.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
