Overview:
Chambers & Partners is seeking a Principal Research Specialist in its New York office, to oversee research and manage relationships with top-performing boutiques and smaller law firms catering to SMEs and handling local counsel work for national clients.
You will lead on research strategy, including identifying and researching potential firms, as well as directing and assessing research carried out by Research Analysts and overseeing editorial, including providing feedback on performance to Research Managers. The Principal Research Specialist will further work alongside our marketing, customer success and commercial teams to assist brand-building and launch events.
The PRS will also serve as an external point of contact for law firms with queries, including engaging with senior firm leadership and staying on top of developments and trends.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Research Oversight
- Identify and engage with target firms to drive engagement with Chambers' coverage in North America.
- Ensure high quality and accuracy of editorial.
Research Ambassadorial Responsibilities
- Serve as the main Chambers point of contact for identified firms, ensuring a high degree of customer service and client care, whilst maintaining Chambers’ reputation for excellence and independence.
- Assist in crafting marketing and communication strategies to appeal to smaller firms and ensure engagement with research.
- Act as ambassador for the research team in external communications to the wider market.
Internal Knowledge Sharing and Cross-Team Collaboration
- Support the Marketing, Customer Success, Tech and Product teams to promote Chambers research and launches, driving engagement among smaller firms.
- Participate in internal strategy and other collaboration efforts to ensure cross-team coordination on North America research strategy.
- Support research teams in other jurisdictions, including advising on best-practice and successful methodologies.
- Work with Research Managers to review and provide feedback on researcher performance.
- Oversee and review ranking decisions to drive research quality and maintain Chambers’ reputation for identifying elite practices.
- Manage implementation and adaption of research methodology to fit modernization and development goals.

- Extensive experience in conducting research of the highest quality.
- Thorough understanding of relevant legal practice areas.
- Intellectually curious and willing to break new ground in research topics.
- Ability to embrace change and adapt methodologies around company goals.

This is a full-time position with room for growth and awesome company perks not limited to:
- 33 days PTO per annum (25 days PTO + 8 public holidays)
- The offices are also closed in between Christmas and New Year so there is no need to book time off for 27th – 31st December
