The Shop Manager plays a key role in guest satisfaction in the day-to-day operation of the lodge. The Shop Manager is skilled in technical shop duties, retail product knowledge and sales, and lends a hand with cleaning duties around the lodge.
The position requires long days of dedication; the Shop Manager is on duty whenever the guests are in the lodge.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Cohesive working relationship with the Hospitality Services team and on-going involvement with the area management team
Technical Shop Duties:
Maintain fleet of skis, snowboards, poles and bindings
Adjust bindings and settings to support the needs of each guest
Tune, wax and repair equipment, as needed
Maintain inventory of spare parts, wax, etc.
Retail Shop Duties:
Maintain accurate inventory levels
Merchandising and displays
Maintain in-depth product knowledge for all retail shop items
Process all cash, debit and credit transactions
General cleaning and maintenance in the retail shop including vacuuming and cleaning windows
Maintain an organized and welcoming lobby entrance and gear drying room
Assist lodge staff with radio duty while helicopters are operating
Assist with the dinner service
Understand and abide by OH&S and WHMIS standards and guidelines
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of high school education
Food Safe Certificate
Diploma related to ski industry, preferred
1-2 years of experience working in retail
1-2 years of technical shop experience including ski/board tuning and set-up
Detail-oriented with the ability to work towards big picture goals and priorities
Excellent communication skills – able to receive and act on feedback in an effective manner
This job may be in a remote area of the BC wilderness or in a town-based lodge. Employees are required to find their own way to and from the lodge or helicopter staging area. Please specify in your cover letter which type of location you are most interested in.
This position has an 11 hour work day as a split shift.
Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 20 pounds on an occasional basis
Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis
Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis
