We are seeking a Personnel Security Specialist to help us meet the critical needs of our Sponsors and Customers. We have a fast paced, fluid team environment where we share tasking and opportunities for growth. Our daily tasking consist of preparing and processing security clearance requests, operating the badging system, operating electronic fingerprinting equipment, and other security clearance processing duties as required.
As a Personnel Security Specialist....
Your primary responsibility will be processing security clearances and ensuring adherence to APL and DoD policy and procedure.
You will perform fingerprinting and badging services.
You will update personnel security systems, records and databases, to include SIMS, Service Now, SWFT, and JPAS/DISS.
You will interact and coordinate with APL Staff, investigators, DOHA, DCSA, DMDC and VROC.
You meet our minimum qualifications if you have:
A High School diploma or GED. Must be a self-starter who will maintain a positive attitude and contribute to team goals, supporting an ongoing positive, customer-focused culture aimed at finding solutions to problems.
Are able to work independently, or with little supervision. Excellent customer service skills are a must.
Are able to asses and understand an issue from the customer's perspective, then effectively deliver the appropriate response.
Possess the highest standards of protecting privacy act information; and recognize and develop solutions to complex problems, which may require cross-departmental coordination and cooperation.
Possess initiative and persistence in pursuing administrative needs, meeting quick turnaround demands, and problem-solving.
Are proficient with MS Office Suite products (e.g. Excel, Word and Outlook).
Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
You'll go above and beyond our minimum qualifications if you have:
A minimum of 1-3 years of support experience with knowledge of DoD personnel security processes.
Knowledge of (or ability to rapidly learn): JHU/APL staff, sponsors and programs; APL practices and procedures to include Security Procedures and Policies. Experience using SIMS database. Some college preferred.
