Temescal Wellness is a leading cultivator, manufacturer and retailer of medical cannabis products. Temescal Wellness cultivates a variety of CBD and THC rich strains, manufactures these strains to refined end products and sells these products through legal dispensaries to end use customers. The company currently holds licenses in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maryland. In all three states, the operations are vertically-integrated with consolidated cultivation and manufacturing facilities supplying to retail dispensaries. Temescal’s ability to win licenses in a market that is highly regulated with many barriers to entry is a key competitive advantage and sets the company up for rapid growth.

The Marketing Director will be the primary point of contact for marketing, events and PR. Key responsibilities and required skills include an ability to work in a fast-paced environment with an impeccable attention to detail and timelines, being a comprehensive and quick learner, stellar verbal and written communication, the ability to identify opportunities for analytical research to drive a deep understanding of our patient and consumer needs and habits and the ability to execute marketing campaigns to address that research and measure the effectiveness of those efforts.

The Marketing Director will be based in metro Boston and will report to the VP of Sales and Marketing. The Director will oversee the Marketing Manager, who is responsible for all digital (both internal and external), video, photography and SEO content and maintenance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Utilize market research, sales product mix, competitive pricing and branding to drive marketing campaigns and measure the effectiveness of these campaigns.
  • Utilize existing CRM platform to create a patient/consumer outreach plan to include promotions, events and surveys.
  • Create thought leadership, educational and promotional content for blog and press. Work with Marketing Manager on social media content and in-store collateral content.
  • Continually assess and remain current on market demands for medical and recreational cannabis products, and specifically the MA and NH market.
  • Develop inspiring promotional and branding ideas that resonate with patients and consumers that further strengthen the company’s brand identity. Ensure brand standards are maintained throughout all company communications.
  • Effectively articulate Temescal Wellness’s mission and respond to inquiries from patients, consumers and the media, setting the tone for positive impact in each community we serve. Lead community outreach, public relations and crisis communications.
  • As part of the leadership team, uphold and promote Temescal Wellness’s status as an employer-of-choice in the cannabis industry.
  • Ensure strict compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
  • Identify, evaluate and vet processes and vendors including CRM, e-commerce.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Four or more years of work experience in retail marketing or consumer product marketing.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize marketing ideas and to draft, edit and copyright sales and marketing materials.
  • Previous experience writing press releases, blog content and social media posts
  • Passion to work in an industry with positive societal impact.
  • Demonstrated track record of collaborating with multiple, diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish tasks in an environment of extensive, but changing, advertising and operating regulations.
  • Proactive and responsive, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and to managing multiple, concurrent work streams.
  • Mastery of, or willingness to learn, various software programs, including especially cloud-based productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., Google calendar, Drive).
  • Can pass criminal background checks typically required by state cannabis regulations.

Compensation. Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications and will include a base salary, plus medical, dental and vision benefits, with premiums subsidized 70% by the employer. Temescal Wellness is a fast-growing, early-stage start-up, and high performers may, over time and with consistently superior performance, be eligible for profit-sharing. For non-hourly employees, Temescal Wellness has an unlimited PTO policy.
