Develop and complete Component EMC Validation for various and certain components as assigned within the Global EMC Workshare (design review, test plans, data approval, etc.) on time as required
Responsible for EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) Component Design Reviews and Test Plan approval and creation while working with Electrical CVEs (Component Validation Engineer) and associated DREs and Suppliers of various electrical/electronic components.
Involved in specifying EMC requirements, execution and evaluation of designs from an EMC perspective, analysis, development, testing and control of major engineering projects where creativity and initiative are involved as well as a high level of independent judgment.
Exercises technical direction over other engineers or engineering support
personnel and may have work direction responsibilities over a group with specific engineering objectives.
Consults with Engineering Group Manager as required.
Provides EMC technical leadership for advanced technology development
Performs complex EMC design analysis including manual circuit board analysis, etc
Communicates, coordinates, and consults with various internal GM engineering departments and external suppliers
Stays abreast of new EMC technology and test methodology
Travels as required
Utilize CEMENT (Component ElectroMagnetic Compatibility and ENvironmental Test) validation database for the development, maintenance and customer support of:
EMC design reviews for new and updated designs
Assisting suppliers with GMW3103 test plans and upload to CEMENT for approval
Review data uploaded to CEMENT and work with supplier to resolve any issues observed
Experience in the discipline of EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) Engineering
High level of oral and written communication skills
Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
Exhibits appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals of component EMC Validation
Specific knowledge of engineering discipline (e.g. mechanics, physics, metallurgy, manufacturing methods, electronics, software, control systems) within job-related area
High level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
Knowledge of engineering software and systems as it pertains to job-related area
Four or more years of experience in job-related area (EMC)
Candidate must have one of the following engineering degrees: required BSEE (preferred), BSE, or BSME
