Description:
The Advanced Solutions Group of Leidos is seeking an Mechanical Technician to support our customer at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. This position is in support of a Department of Defense contract aimed at rapid prototyping and testing of new systems.

As the Mechanical Technician, you will perform the installation of parts for communications-electronics integrations into military systems. You will work with engineers, drafters, and electrical technicians to assemble or install parts, and provide input to design and drawing changes. The successful candidate will demonstrate a keen attention to detail and provide effective communication supported by a philosophy of continuous improvement and standardized work processes.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan and perform installation and test of mechanical modifications to mechanical and structural components for complex systems such as military shelters, aircraft, and ground vehicles
  • Plan and perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical and structural components for, complex systems such as military shelters, aircraft, and ground vehicles
  • Install, maintain, repair, & replace fixtures, fuses, indicators, sensors, and makes minor electrical installations
  • Install and maintain cooling system components, piping, traps, valves, gauges, pumps and other accessories and fittings
  • Work from and assist in the development of engineering drawings
  • Travel up to 10% to CONUS and OCONUS locations
Qualifications:REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma
  • 5 or more years of experience in mechanical operations, equipment installation, and skilled maintenance
  • Skilled in use of hand tools to include (but not limited to) saws, drills, grinders, files, measuring devices, air tools, riveters, torque wrenches
  • Skilled in the use of measuring tools, test instruments, and painting equipment
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting CAD data and engineering drawings
  • Able to work quickly and efficiently, with the ability to respond to changing requirements and stringent timelines
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
  • Per contractual requirements, US Citizenship is required
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with fabrication and installation of parts for communications-electronics installations into military systems
  • Skilled in the use of sheet metal and machine tools such as shears, breaks, notchers, saws, milling machines, and lathes
  • Experience with waterproofing shelters and equipment using polysulfide, epoxy and silicone sealants
  • Able to operate overhead cranes
  • Forklift certification
  • Graduate of technical school
  • Active Secret security clearance
