Job Summary:

The Accountant is responsible for various day to day accounting activities including, but not limited to: maintaining the general accounting systems; preparing journal entries; reconciling ledger accounts, preparing accounts and financial analysis and schedules for company projects/studies. This individual will interface with external auditors. This is a hands-on position. Work under general supervision.

Job Duties:

  • Maintains general accounting systems and reports, including preparing journal entries and, reconciling ledger accounts. Reconciles the general ledger to ensure that information is accurate, consistent, traceable, and auditable
  • Communicates with other departments to ensure financial information is correct each month
  • Performs financial analysis and detailed analytical review
  • Documents new and existing internal controls. Participates in building systems, policies and processes that will streamline accounting and financial reporting and enforce compliance
  • Manages fixed assets; prepares and files property and franchise tax returns
  • Assists with budget preparation
  • Coordinates all audits and reviews; may provide support for all SEC filings
  • May provide payroll and equity system maintenance support
  • Ensures compliance with all financial/accounting regulatory and compliance requirements, such as SOX, FARS; and state and federal tax payroll laws
  • Complies with all applicable policies regarding health, safety and environmental policies

Job Requirements:

  • BS in Accounting and a minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience; or equivalent. Experience in a public company is preferred
  • Demonstrated working experience with general ledger maintenance, variance reporting and analysis, payroll processing, and accounts payable processing
  • Organized and driven for accuracy and timeliness
  • Ability to work independently to complete tasks/projects
  • Proficient using various software, including MSOffice and Microsoft Dynamics and payroll systems [i.e. ADP]
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal) Ability to interact with all levels of management, both internal and external
  • Demonstrated knowledge in state and federal, regulatory, and tax laws
  • Must be able to work with confidential information and possess strong business judgment
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Must be customer oriented
