PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The purpose of this role is to support the firm’s ever-expanding need for robust counterparty risk management capabilities. Internal stakeholders (portfolio managers and traders) as well as external stakeholders (clients and regulators) rely on accurate and timely counterparty exposure data and creditworthiness assessments to facilitate the portfolio management process. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting the Head of Counterparty Risk in ensuring the identification, measurement, monitoring, and communication of risks is carried out daily.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Counterparty Risk Analysis

Support the counterparty risk management program, which includes measuring and monitoring risks associated with counterparties to bilateral OTC derivatives, forward settling instruments, centrally cleared derivatives, repurchase agreements, securities lending arrangements, and other complex instruments that could result in material levels of counterparty exposure
Regularly interface with cross functional business units (Global Trading, Investments, Legal, Compliance, Investment Operations, Client Operations, etc.) to assist the team in managing these risks
Perform annual credit reviews and due diligence on select counterparties
Perform daily monitoring of technical market data and significant news events on counterparties, escalating credit concerns to the Head of Counterparty Risk
Risk Data Management and Exposure Reporting

Assist in the development of robust data infrastructure necessary for the measurement and monitoring of counterparty risk and the oversight of securities lending activities
Assist in the transition of counterparty risk reporting from a legacy platform (Business Objects) to more sophisticated and interactive reporting tools, supporting the firm’s Global Technology initiative to modernize reporting capabilities
Regularly interface with Investments Technology teams to research and resolve data discrepancies and ensure the integrity of counterparty exposure calculation methodologies
Over time, this position will take an active role in advancing the firm’s counterparty exposure modeling capabilities; including potential future exposure and stress testing. This may include supporting the evaluation and implementation of new risk systems capable of modeling forward looking counterparty exposure through time
New Instruments and Ad-hoc Analysis

Support the firm’s evaluation of new derivatives/complex products and ensure counterparty risk systems accurately capture new instruments
Carry out other ad-hoc analysis to facilitate the communication of risks to internal investments and risk committees, senior management, investment staff, clients, and regulators
QUALIFICATIONS

Required

College degree in business, finance, economics, or a quantitative field
4 years of relevant work experience at a financial institution
Thorough knowledge of risk metrics and investment industry concepts
Strong operational/analytical mindset and highly inquisitive nature
Highly self-motivated and detail-oriented
Experience understanding and evaluating company financial statements
Excellent written and oral communication skills
The ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once
A high degree of professionalism
Ability to explain complex concepts to a broad audience
Ability to dissect and solve complex problems
Preferred

Advanced degree (MBA or MS in finance, engineering, math, or another quantitative field)
CFA charter holder or candidate
Certifications or experience in risk management (e.g., FRM or PRM)
Experience understanding and evaluating company creditworthiness
In-depth knowledge of derivatives
Experience with programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, or R
