Role / Title:
The Senior Accountant, Technical Accounting position will play an integral role in the Company’s financial leadership team regarding technical accounting matters related to US GAAP primarily for goodwill and intangible assets. The position is critical in supporting the Company’s GAAP compliance as it relates to complex accounting issues within the goodwill and intangible asset space. The position may also assist in other significant projects, which vary based on the Company’s business transactions and priorities (e.g., acquisitions, divestitures, new policies, new types of transactions, training initiatives, etc.). This ideal candidate must be versatile and proactive with an ability to manage evolving priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Components of the role:
Support annual and quarterly impairment work for goodwill and intangible assets. This includes assistance with detailed reviews of business unit forecasts and valuation assumptions
Support monthly accounting for goodwill and intangible assets
Research technical accounting issues to ensure compliance with Company policy and GAAP in various areas including revenue recognition, rebates & incentives, leases, investments, consolidation, goodwill/intangible assets and other topics
Partner with various teams within finance and other functions to understand the nature of transactions, provide structuring advice, propose feasible alternatives, and ensure timely preparation of accounting memos
Prepare accounting position whitepapers and review with the Company’s management and external auditors
Support all internal, external and SOX related audits
Prepare required disclosures to support SEC filings where necessary, especially with new disclosures primarily as they relate to goodwill and intangible assets
Monitor US GAAP and SEC developments and evaluating the impacts of new accounting and reporting rules
Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in public accounting, with an emphasis in SEC engagements and experience in performing technical accounting research; Big 4 public accounting firm preferred
Ability to effectively lead, manage and prioritize multiple projects, while effectively operating in a fast-paced, complex global organization with shifting schedules and priorities
Detail-oriented with a high sense of urgency and exceptional organizational skills
Strong work-ethic, communication skills (written and verbal), and drive to learn
Excellent analytical, teamwork, customer service and leadership skills
Experience with Hyperion Financial Management, and SAP a plus
