Job Summary & Responsibilities:
The Manager, QA Engineering (full-time, salaried, regular) will be responsible for establishing operational processes for the quality and performance of software applications for problems of scale. This position will provide leadership and best-practice guidance for integration and testing of third-party software solutions within Motor Trend Group’s existing browser, mobile and device clients. Essential duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

Lead the design, creation, and execution of test automation across software applications/platform.
Lead on-site and remote team members in review of product requirements, use cases, user stories, and functional requirements to inform test plans in compliance with QA best practices and standards.
Establish and execute processes for load, reliability, and performance testing of software applications/platform.
Monitor, analyze, and report performance statistics of product quality and champion best practices and modern tools/techniques.
Lead QA project/planning efforts and technical design sessions vital to maintaining quality.
Establish operational processes for ensuring high-quality software applications across desktop/mobile browsers, mobile apps, connected devices, and cloud-based platforms.
Collaborate with other engineering teams to review, scope, estimate, coordinate, and execute on best in class QA initiatives.
Identify engineering process bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
Identify and flag risks early and proactively remove blockers to ensure timely execution of product roadmap.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position may include supervising one or more employees where applicable. Supervisory responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide consistent training, support, and mentorship to team.
Review and approve individual timecards (as needed) and time-off requests to ensure optimal staffing levels.
Effective, fair, and consistent performance management.
Fairly and consistently ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Education/Experience:
BA/BS required, preferably in a Computer Science or Business discipline.
6-8 years in a lead or management QA role on consumer facing software applications and cloud-based platforms.
Experience working in an Agile delivery environment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Working knowledge with load testing tools like LoadRunner and/or JMeter.
Working knowledge with scripting languages like Ant, Ruby, Python, or Javascript.
Working knowledge architecting, building, and maintaining test automation frameworks for unit, API, and UI testing.
Working knowledge testing a large portfolio of high-traffic sites and applications, including the platform applications that power them.
Working knowledge with Agile methodologies and frequent release cycles.
Working knowledge with CI/CD and SDLC.
Working knowledge with approaches and tooling for automated build, delivery, and release of software.
Strong understanding of the QA risks of dealing with a high-traffic, high-availability production systems.
Well versed in writing automation scripts using software configuration management tools.
Proficiency in vendor management.
Able to prioritize tasks and projects to align with our roadmap and business goals.
Thorough understanding of operational support processes and ability to direct team in dissecting and diagnosing complex problems.
Proven record of building high performing teams.
Proven history of thriving in a fast-paced environment, while dealing with ambiguity.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
A mind for business and the bottom-line. We want to deliver new features and value to customers as quickly as possible while maintaining a high quality experience.
Ability to focus on the big picture and not just the engineering or production realm; with the ability to lead others in that direction.
Ability to work at all points in the QA pipeline, including being a hands-on contributor.

Physical Requirements:
The ability to sit for prolonged period of time and view computer screen.
