As a service for multiple departments within QVC, Inc. the Premedia, Scenic & Environment Branding Department provides retouching services, large format printing, supplies final digital files, photo quality printouts, proofs and/or posters.
Under the direction of the Lead Brand Display Artist, the Brand Display Artist operates the Premedia department’s large format printing output. This role also supports the maintenance of the Premedia print shop’s systems / equipment, places service calls, and tracks inventory of supplies. The Brand Display Artist maintains high quality standards and accuracy on all outgoing print requests, and adheres to safety procedures to meet QVC standards.
The position is for someone who is equally able to support and stand as back-up for department including; page layout and design for template work, image manipulation including retouching, color adjustment and silhouettes. Must be able to make color calls either on screen, press or proofs. They will also be responsible for preparation of files for final output.
Job Description Details
Large format graphics Production:
Prepare the output of files to printers using Adobe Creative Suite. Accurately completes all incoming requests. Operates all Premedia & large format printer equipment. Poster output and finishing work.
Workflow & Maintenance:
Track inventory and supplies. Support daily maintenance of high-end equipment. Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area. Monitor and place service calls.
Page layout and design for template work, image manipulation / retouching, color adjustment and silhouettes. Color calls either on screen, press or proofs. Preparation of files for final output.
Requires thorough knowledge of large format production on various substrates and equipment. Some minor retouching of images, creating masks and silhouettes. File preparation, finishing and shipping of all large format projects. Workflow management of print shop. Traffics external work with vendors. Manages inventory and supplies. Supports daily maintenance of high-end equipment.
In addition to this, a basic knowledge of print production techniques including the following: Page construction & decryption (understanding how a page has been built); concepts of flat size, folded size, finished size, creep, trim, bleed, live area, color break, color libraries, color space, typesetting, kerning, tracking, leading, fonts, crop, ink density, ink limits, transparency, and layering. All of these production issues must be considered when preparing a job for press.
Requires problem solving, quality control and delivery of projects.
The ability to work unsupervised at graphics production on a variety of printers and substrates. Must have strong working knowledge of Latex and UV ink poster printers. Must have working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
Receive and stock all consumable materials for the Premedia Scenic and Environment department, which includes heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. Must also be able to place orders.
Maintain and clean all equipment and work areas when required.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must have 3 – 5 years experience in a Large Format Production Environment.
Must know all current Creative, Digital, Imaging & Design software particularly Adobe Creative Suite.
