Jackson Hewitt is seeking a SQL Server DBA to join our team. Our team is cloud focused and is always looking for new and innovative ways to secure, store and manage data. As a member of our database team you will be challenged with high concurrency workloads that service our employees and our hard working customers. By joining our team you will be helping to drive change in our customer centric software solutions and improve our processes.

  • Manage SQL Server 2012 through 2017
  • Manage SQL Servers running on Microsoft Windows Server 2012 through 2019
  • Manage the day to day operations of all SQL Server infrastructure
  • Identify, diagnose, and remediate performance issues
  • Work with internal teams to plan and schedule application upgrades
  • Able to perform after-hours and/or weekend support for key deployments or on-call support
  • Partner with architects and management for designing cloud optimized workloads
  • Design and tune alerting around performance, operational and security events
  • Coach technology team on latest relational and cloud technology offerings
  • Coach team members via code reviews, lunch and learns, and other settings
  • 5+ years of SQL Server DBA experience
  • Sound foundational knowledge of database design
  • Strong sense of personal accountability
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; meticulous & methodical
  • Ability to be a team player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team success
  • Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly and can be self-directed
  • Strong business analysis, system analysis or product analysis skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent communications skills and work attitude (both with technical and non-technical people)
  • Experience working in a team environment on multiple simultaneous projects
  • Strong business analysis, system analysis or product analysis skills
  • BS/BA in computer science or related field
  • 1+ year of DBA experience with AWS, Azure or GCP
  • 1+ year of T-SQL development or related experience
  • Experience with the following
o Large database (1TB+) workloads in both OLTP and OLAP settings
o Agile principles
  • Designing indexing strategies for cloud optimized workloads
  • Designing high availability and disaster recovery strategies for cloud based workloads
  • 2+ years with AlwaysOn
  • 3+ years with Windows Server 2012 or higher
  • Experience with the following
o Cloud native SQL and data storage solutions (RDS, Azure SQL, Cloud SQL, Redis, Document, etc)
o Planning/Executing SQL Server version upgrades
  • Designing indexing strategies for cloud optimized workloads
  • Designing high availability and disaster recovery strategies for cloud based workloads
