The Mechanical Engineer will provide field engineering, inspections and subject matter expertise to U.S. Government Project Directors on diplomatic construction projects located worldwide. You will provide the Georgetown, Guyana project site a full range of critical engineering and construction quality assurance and management and technical oversight. The projects may include upgrades, renovations, additions or new construction including utility systems and real property facilities. You must be able to coordinate with other engineering and office staff in the areas of planning, project coordination, project scheduling and cost management.
Can you walk me through a typical day of a Mechanical Engineer?
You will provide technical expertise to the on-site Project Director and Construction Management Staff.
You will have expertise in supervision, design, survey or inspection of construction activities associated with structures, facilities or utility systems.
You will be responsible for technical documentation and review of work in progress by contractor(s).
You will oversee compliance with client standards for project design, delivery, QA/QC process and regular project reporting.
You will evaluate the desired goal of the mechanical system and review designs and selections of equipment, power controls, piping, structures and earthwork to achieve the goal.
You will perform engineering calculations and prepare reports in support of project work.
You will assist the Project Director in the overall coordination of construction activities to maximize productivity and maintain schedule.
You will assist in the review of contingency and recovery plans offered by contractor.
You will monitor performance against such plans providing quality assurance reporting.
You will communicate and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and offices.

Could you be the Mechanical Engineer we are looking for?
You must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited ABET university in the field of Mechanical Engineering located in the United States.
You must have minimum of 7 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering with specific on-site construction experience across all phases of project delivery.
You must have knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts principles and practices a familiarity with other engineering disciples and architecture.
You must have the ability to analyze, interpret and apply general engineering rules and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend effective solutions to other engineers.
You must have knowledge of engineering and construction standards, methods, practices and techniques, materials and equipment to determine compliance with client codes and regulations.
You must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and Auto CAD.
You must have strong client management skills.
You must have experience in preparing written site inspection reports and the ability to make verbal presentations to other professionals.
You must show strong organizational, communication and managerial skills.
You must be self-motivated, but must work effectively in teams and with senior management.
