Job Overview:
The Manager of Software Engineering at Macy’s Technology reports to the Director, Supply Chain Engineering, and plays a key role in leading the software engineering technical direction and integration of enterprise solutions. The Manager of Software Engineering will form effective partnerships across Macy’s Technology.

The Manager collaborates with various levels of stakeholders (Sr. Leadership, each department’s management, project teams, Compute & Engineering leaders, enterprise architects and the Macy’s Product Organization) on architecture, requirements, and implementation of system solutions to enable business features quickly in a rapidly changing environment. Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:
Partner with the Product Management team to define an effective back-log and execute to that back-log.

Lead overall team in innovation of technical and business concepts and drive the test and learn mindset across the team.

Lead the implementation of application services, frameworks, automations, and infrastructure that the departments, teams and their projects depend upon.

Evolve platform maturity in automation, operations, stability, and support.

Maintain awareness of industry trends and evaluate applicability of new software tools to platform development.

Consistently demonstrate regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and/or Engineering and 8-10 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s Degree preferred.
8-10 years of highly technical leadership experience.
Experience with large scale cloud based custom development utilizing components provided by cloud provider (prefer Google Cloud Platform).

Experience with legacy transformation to highly decoupled systems.

Strong leadership profile and excellent prioritization and negotiation skills, capable of managing multiple streams of work in parallel with aggressive timelines.
Demonstrate strong organizational and leadership capabilities and have solid track record of leading engineering team and delivering enterprise class products. Must also have broad and deep technical understanding of the technologies in this field.

Deep technical understanding of the technologies. The list of technology includes but not limited to: Cloud Processing (prefer Google Cloud Platform), Java, Spark, Cassandra, Kafka, Kibana, stream processing, RDBMS, NoSQL databases, In-memory databases, ODS, distributed processing.

Strong data management principles, around data architecture, modeling/design, data quality, security, data organization and operations.

Experience in processing large amounts of data in real-time at internet scale for operational and analytic purposes.

Communication Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information of the platform in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders.

Must have excellent presentation skills to wide spectrum of audience types (Sr. Executives to Technical Architects and Developers).

Mathematical Skills:
Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and analytical skills.

Reasoning Ability:
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands:
This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, hearing, and talking.

May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.

May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and viewing computer monitor for extended periods of time.

Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.

May involve moving or lifting items under 10 pounds.

Work Hours:
Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
