POSITION SUMMARY

The Program Manager will enrich camper’s experience by providing fun, girl planned activities to supplement the regular unit program; assist with the training of camp staff in their specified duties under her/his management.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Promote and support the Girl Scout program philosophies of the GSUSA & GSCTX.
Serve as an active member of the camp management staff. Communicate often with supervisors regarding responsibilities.
Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of camp activities in order to meet the intended camper outcomes.
Participate in the implementation of program activities for campers within the mission and outcomes.
Responsible for maintaining high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff.
Responsible for participating enthusiastically in all camper activities, including planning and leading those assigned.
Responsible for observing camper and staff behavior, assessing its appropriateness, enforcing appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and applying appropriate behavior-management techniques.
Responsible for maintaining effective working relationships with staff and creating harmonious relationships with campers, parents, and staff.
Responsible for check in and check out procedures and other assigned duties and responsibilities.
Ensures that unit schedules and activities are implemented and adhered to.
Organize and implement all non-program camp activities, such as campfire, all camp events, special meals, camper council, banquet, etc.
Organize and supervise the implementation of unit kapers both in main camp and in each unit.
Prepares and trains Summer Camp Counselors for each session of programming.
Ability to work with, communicate with and teach children ages six through seventeen.
Provide quality customer service that resolves concerns in a timely manner.
Promote Girl Scouting in a positive manner to the public and co-workers.
Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Membership in GSUSA is required.
Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Must be 21 years of age.
High School Diploma/GED is required.
College coursework preferred.
Adhere to Personnel Policies for Summer Camp Staff.
Experience working in summer camp environment.
Experience organizing and implementing camp programs.
Experience organizing, supervising, and managing personnel.
Exhibits good judgment and risk management assessment skills.
Exhibits mature decision making and responsibility at all times.
Ability to work in fast-paced environments.
Ability to work well with people and utilize team building techniques.
Proven skills concerning risk management decision making.
Girl Scout knowledge and Girl Scout camp experience preferred.
Fluent in Spanish and English strongly preferred.
Must reside on camp property.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending and twisting upper body.
Capable of lifting up to 50lbs.
Strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
Capable of viewing computer monitor for long periods.
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

Continuous outdoor activity and exposure to weather.
Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours with limited equipment and facilities, with daily exposure to sun, heat, and insects.
OTHER WORKING CONDITIONS

Continuous requirement for professional demeanor and appropriate camp staff attire.
A criminal background check is required.
Continuous work as a team member and ability to work independently with some supervision.
Frequent work under stress and under pressure of deadlines with overlapping projects.
Continuous ability to work well with others.
